On the wrong side!!

Do you guys over there in aus drive on the wrong side of the road like we do and ifso did they make a 70's f series pick up RHD? be a bit of a mission to swap from LHD to RHD tho eh!!

BigF350 08-04-2005 06:01 PM

Yes we drive on the "wrong side of the road".
And yes, we had late 70's F-Series produced in RHD here in Australia.

wish i'd known of that earlier have just swapped the bulkhead in mine from AC to non AC,could have sourced a RHD set up over there somewhere,oh well just have to be careful when overtaking.

2smokintailpipes 08-05-2005 03:44 PM

Do you have late 2003-4 F350 duallys with RHD there aswell?

BigF350 08-05-2005 05:56 PM

We have RHD F-250's and F-350's based off the 2001 platform, alot of the components are similar to the 2003 - steering, suspension, axles etc., however the diesel changed to the 6.0l in 2003, and to the torqshift trans as well..

What in particular where you after?

So there is a "right" sode...hum...wonder if that is why people keep honking at me

now whcih side is the right side :-X20

BigF350 08-06-2005 06:52 PM

Whatever side I am driving on :-D
Irrespective of country laws.

IB Tim 08-06-2005 06:54 PM

There ya go...on your own path ...and marching to your own tune, the way it should be.
and I thought all those people were just waving at me.

BigF350 08-06-2005 06:57 PM

They might have been waving at you Tim, but I don't think it was to represent a friendly gesture. :p

TigerDan 08-07-2005 10:38 PM

Were they only waving with one finger?

BTW Fred, seems to me I heard somewhere that if you import a LHD vehicle to Australia, it MUST be converted to RHD, they won't allow it on the road with LHD. Is that true?

BigF350 08-07-2005 11:28 PM

Thats correct.

You can run a LHD vehicle, but it has to have special certification from a registered government engineer, and be over 25years old.

Ferrari did run a LHD car here briefly when they circumnavigated the globe in a F355 for thier aniversary, but that required an allowance from the federal government.

We have some of the strictest automotive laws (bar Singapore), certain states require a full roadworthy annually, which includes around 500 different things being checked (mostly safety related).
