It's an air pump driven buy a fan belt, it part of the emissions system on your engine... It injects air into the exhaust system...

smog pump delete

I have a 93 f150 that originally had a 302 with a 5 speed that i swapped for a 5.8. when i first did it, i wasnt happy with the power (not much more than the 5.0) and worse mileage (about 13) i ttook off my smog pump and gutted the cat. and gained tons of power and mileage. it now gets about 17 to the gallon, and has more power than my other truck that has the 460, which is now getting the smog pump delete on it. i found in a junkyard a bracket and pulley to go in place of the pump. also, on the back of the heads i just tapped pout the holes and bought plugs to fit in. very happy with how the truck has ran since

been a lil while since a post in this thread, but does anyone have a pic of their engine bay after the smog pump delete? I REALLY want to do this to mine when I get the time. The bearings in it are getting noisy, and it sounds terrible.

I'll be removing mine when I install my new headers in a few weeks..... and I'll post up some pics!

Well I removed all the smog crap from my 460, I gained about 2mpg.. I still need to measure and get the correct size belt so I can remove the smog pump, there's nothing hooked to it but I'd like to remove it... Does anyone have a part # for the correct size belt??? The truck runs great...
Also I removed the EGR and as suggested in post # 21 I installed the Original EGR Eliminator $20.00 from RJM Injection Tech » EGR Eliminators ... Worked as described no CEL

What all did you delete? EGR valve, air pump, what else, and are you sure about the mileage increase? If you got 2 more MPG's that's awesome. i could look forward to 10-13 mpg's lol

I was looking at the RJMinjectiontech site, I have a 1992 460, do I need the original EGR delete plug and the EGR eliminator 2 or can I just get the Eliminator 2 and put it into my harness?

I removed my smog pump/tubes/hoses. Then I just welded the a cap on the cat where the smog pipe used to go. I left all the EGR stuff..

I haven't noticed any gas mileage or power increase but it sure cleaned up the engine bay, much easier to work on passnger side of engine.
