Gary, will you guys ever let me live that down?! Do I have to keep reminding you guys my wife was my navigator, I had enough just to maneuver the mountain roads of deaths down there.
Jim, as it looks now I am hoping to have something happen here next year. You'll be able to make that. I'd be going down to Tennessee this year but my oldest is getting married the next week and my wife, for strange reason, thinks it's more important to spend our funds on that than traveling across country to meet up with a bunch of truck guys. She also thinks for some reason I may not make it back in time for the wedding. That I know I could do. |

I guess I should be just happy that I'll be immortalized for something in my life. I look at it more as being a legend in my own time. :-jammin

Bob, are you thinking your event will be sometime in the fall similar to the traditional timing of Truckstock? I will certainly try to support a midwest "fat fender Ford" event if you host one.
Part of the allure of attending the original Truckstock for me would be the opportunity of traveling to a part of the country where I have never been and the challenge of the great distance involved. Bob's map reading skills may be suspect, but I can vouch for his auto body repair skills. He repaired my front sheetmetal, making something from nothing. My truck spent its working life in an area of the country that often receives more than 150 inches of snow during 5 months of winter. After 6 years of work and 30 months of exposure to snow and salt, my truck spent the next 45 years sitting outside unprotected from the elements. By the time Bob started working on my fenders, there wasn't a lot left to work with. |
One thing you have to understand , the more we like you the more we pick on you . We like Bob a lot .

Next year is next year. I really want to host a meet next year. I just have to get through this year. Once I get a few things settled I'll know more of where we stand.
Hosting one of these things, especially at your own place, and is a lot of work. But the pay off is well worth it. |
Attending your event would be an important priority for me. I'd also be very willing to help you out in some way--maybe arrive at your place early and work with you on the meals or some of the other logistics. When we get closer to the time, just give me some jobs. Sorry if this is a hijack--I won't let it happen again.

No web site, this is it. TS2016 will be held at Falls Creek Falls State Park, TN. It is a GTG of Ford trucks of this vintage and their owners. It is not a truck show.
Cheers |

I am always up for a GTG. My truck is not a stock 56 bit more on the modified side with a 76 HI boy chassis under it and a 390 growling under the hood. sounds like your GTG is more for the OEM crowd.
Cheers I'm not an official spokes person or anyything just a guy that has really appreiciated all of these good people that make the effort to put this on- --not a simple task. |

Cheers Truckstock is on my bucket list. I will only have one in the house next year. hmmmm..... Gotta start planning. |
OK. I put this off last year and we didn't go, but I was able to get a room so we will be there too. We look forward to meeting everyone.
|
That's great, Pete! It will be nice to put a face to the posts.

Are you bringing your F2? If so I want to get a look at the bracket you made for the PS pump.

A week away ! Just wondering if anyone is coming thru Lexington/Louisville on way to TS16 on Friday morning? If so do you want to meet up for a caravan drive? Also if anyone needs help for a breakdown or just a pit stop we are here. Send me a PM and I will do anything I can to help you out.

Well, the 10-day forecast looks favorable. Little chance of rain until next Sunday (how on earth can they look that far into the future). https://weather.com/weather/tenday/l/USTN0479:1:US

What is the current probable "head count", Dave?

I just got an email from the park. It's now illegal to transport in firewood from the outside. It has to be certified heat-treated wood. They gave a link to a website called "Firewood Scout", and there are some stores "conveniently" located just outside the park entrance and in the park. I can't imagine how much that will cost.

If I remember correctly, last year the policy was "No outside fires". Something about someone burned a cabin down or a similar story. Maybe Joe will remember the story...........,,,,,,,,or did I dream that:-roll
That's right!!! Lol. I remember them saying that. I think it was either your cabin or the one beside it. They said somebody burned it slap to the ground. |
I think they have some pits in the camping areas. But they are undoubtedly worried about emerald borers and other nasty bugs getting a foothold, and I can't blame them.

Yes, many areas now have rules against transporting firewood from one area to another. Many shipping palets are now treated.
|
looks like 30-35 will be there
|
Pretty good number. Looks it's going to be a good meet.
|
Any idea on the number of trucks?
|
I'm Leaving home now. Long story.
There are no tee-shirts. Another long story. I should be there in about 5 hours, but with the time change it will only feel like...5 hours. See you when I see you. And not before. |
Safe travels to all. The non-attendees will look forward to online updates.
|
So far, so good. Nobody has wifi here unless they're in the lodge. As time goes by, it develops even more of a feel of a family and friends reunion. Good food, laughs, and conversations. No problems today. No drama as usual. The biggest mechanical mystery of the trucks was a slow air leak with Eric's right rear tire. Other than that, the attendees helped me keep my family's three cheap Walmart bicycles on the road.
Will probably do some brief cruising tomorrow, visit the falls, and just hang out some more. I'm enjoying being around my old and new friends again. Plenty of shade trees and lawn chairs. Dave and Cindy have done an excellent job with hosting so far. Thanks so much. Cruisetopdown arrived late today. Expect the pictures to start flowing. :) |
Just wanted to let everyone know that even if you're not able to make you're still park of the event. Yesterday while at work (ugh!), talking to my doofus boss I got a phone call. I glanced at the screen and it was Doc. I had to swipe it to ignor but as soon as I could I called him back. It was the whole TS 16 gang checking in with me to see how I was doing. I miss not being able to make it this year, next week is my oldest son's wedding and that's taking up up our time and $$ this year. Hope to see you all next time and have a great time!
|
I hope you all have a great time at truckstock 2016. Post a bunch of pics so we can all kick ourselves for not making it down there. Sharon and I really miss all you folks.
brian... |
Yeah, as they say, "If there's no pictures it ain't happening" :)
