pyrometer broken, or wiring issue?

I just installed a glowshift 3 pod, Pyro, Boost, Tranny guages. On a 96 7.3 PSD. My pyrometer doesnt seem to be working though. Everytime I turn it on its a different color and it goes from 0 to 1500 then back, then to 1500 and stays there. Any suggestions?

The color light selector is the only knob on there. The first part of the movement of the guage is test movement. Staying on 1500° 'might' be a bad ground, guessing on that.

You should have a memory with that gets 12v constantly.

Far as staying on 1500* it could be a bad connection, bad probe, bad gauge.

Hopefully you didn't cut the wires to the probe to shorten it. That will mess up the reading

I did cut the wires but right at the crimps where they connect to the other wires on the gauge. So I basicly cut out 1/4" of wire and put on new crimps. Could a 1/4" make a difference?

Cutting the wires changed the resistance of the probe

So if cutting a quarter of an inch changes it that much then, what happens if on the gauge side you add a connector thats a 1/4" longer then the other connector? Does that completely throw off your reading as well? Because the kit didnt include a connector for the gauge side.

Traced all my lines back to the gauges and the probe. Had a bad connection, one of the new connections I put on slipped down. Put it back together, ran the truck and checked the manifold with a temp gun to make sure the gauge was reading correctly. Everything's working great and the gauge comes on green every time. Lol just a bad connection. Thanks for the help guys.
