Need new radiator for 49 F6 V8

Any one know of a good usable replacement radiator for the flathead for a 49 F6? Budget is a bit of an issue. Not realy interested in recoring it as it is about $400 to have that done...........

Its going to be a bit difficult since the V8 has to inlets and outlets. Anything from a newer, non flat head vehicle is only going o have one inlet and one outlet.

You might be stuck with recoring or finding a decent used one

Good luck
Bobby

Here's a new aluminum, I don't know anything about these folks and their products though.

Will look into it on payday if my head checks out good!

From my expereince, recoring is the same price range as the cheaper new flathead radiators (~$400). With the new radiators, they don't always come with the mounting holes in the right spot, fit exactly etc, but if you get yours recored, you eliminate a lot of those uncertanties while retaining the stock look. Plus you will build a relationship with your local radiator pro who could help you down the road should there be an issue. They can also help you boil out your fuel tank etc.

The local radiator guy is famous for boiling them out, repainting them, and returning a leaky radiator.

I would have to take half a day off of work and drive 50 miles four times to get it repaired.
I can try to get a quote later this week. I do agree with your sentiments however.
I am not quite sure that a F1 or F2 radiator is as large as a F6s. I do belive that it would work if need be.

Although there was an optional extra cooling radiator available,(1RT 8005B) the standard radiator was the same for F1-F6 (1RT 8005A)

Measured the core area tonight got about 21"x21" for the core itself. Going to try and call to get some quotes in the next few days.

Installed the radiator suggested by harlymsn. Fit like a glove. Kinda weird though it came with an 18psi radiator cap. Will head to napa and see if I can get a 7 or 10psi one tomorrow. Going to install my cylinder head tomorrow afternoon or early Saturday. Will let you know how it works.
