Key won't go into ignition.

I came back from a long trip with camper, backed TT into barn and when I tried to start truck again the key would not go into the ignition, the dust door was jammed? My turnsignals would flash and a display said to insurt key to shut off alarm, I have no alarm? Power door locks and keyless entry worked fine, not sure if some kind of anti theft system was holding dust door closed? All my windows were down and the dealer wanted it towed in, with rain on the way I had to jam a screwdriver into key hole and bend the dust stop in to get the key in, truck started and I finished everything and took the key out and its working fine, the flapper returned to normal. I am dropping it off at dealer tonight for them to look at, hopefully they will change it out without saying it looks fine. I will be keeping that screwdriver in the truck from now on. Any one else heard of this?

I have noticed my ignition to be "sloppy."
Please let us know the outcome.

The dealer kept the truck for 2 days and would only go and try the key every once and a while and said they won't take it appart unless it would not work for them. I would have to pay $275 to have it replaced and they would send it in to the war. dept. and if they find it bad they would repay me. Dealer had nothing to say about the alarm other than that can't happen as I don't have the upgraded alarm system?

Also when I turn my truck off the key reminder does not go off when I open the door with the key in the ignition.

I guess I am going to have to pay for the repair as I don't want to get stuck somewhere at a bad time, or I will just leave the key in the ignition and hang a rag over it to hide it and use the keypad to get in and out!!!!!!!!!!

So sorry. :-X18
I'll be having my ignition and my touch checked at my next oil change.
