Shorty Header choices...302 in a 56 F 100
Stainless,ceramic coated,chrome or painted..
Then of course there are a BUNCH of manufactures...Who has what and are you happy with them? |
Hi Don.
I went with the ceramic coated BBK 79-93 mustang shorty headers connected to a 2.5" H pipe exhaust. Stainless will start getting blue as you use them from the heat. https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/[...ctureid=107373[/IMG] |
Thanks Jack....what have you done to your baby lately?
I've been unable to work on mine since late October because of rotator cuff surgery...still in Physical Therapy three days a week..but when they release me I'm gonna get back on it! |
I hate to say it but the past month or two I've been lazy. I've have gotten out a number of times driving. I was in Germantown last weekend. I've got all the stuff to put the heater in if I simply make the time to do it.
|
I've used the Ford Racing shorties and the BBK shorties, both in ceramic. The BBK headers held up much better for me.

What kind of room do those bbk's leave for mII starting shaft? Been eyeing Sandersons for the clearance.
|
Not sure...maybe Jack can help you out on that.

Mine had plenty of room for the starter. If I had it to do all over again, I'd consider the gear reduction starter to save about 5-10 pounds.

Since I dont tune for max HP I use whatever fits and then finish by budget..
off topic but this is a very nice truck, hate to see it burn to the ground because of a cheap $1.99 plastic fuel filter. I would toss that thing immediately and get a glass or metal one. I have seen those crack from engine heat and age and it isnt pretty! http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d1...ps0ac7de6f.jpg |
I've seen the glass type break also and cause fires.
