Which Is the Right PCM (Cardone? Others?)

I've been fighting an intermittent issue with my '95 F250 PSD for a while now (if you're interested, the ongoing thread is at https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...ff-cel-on.html). I've pretty much concluded that the PCM is at fault. Now - which one do I need?

Ford says they're no longer available. (Just as well: they said they listed for over $600.) On-line sources (eBay, autocomputerexchange, etc.) have prices well upwards of $350. Several local auto parts places offer Cardone re-manufactured units for $125-$150. Unfortunately, none of the folks behind the counters are very knowledgeable: all they can do is parrot back what they have on their PC screen.

My PCM is P/N F5TF-12A650-BJF, module code DPC-202, flash rev. TEE5. According to Cardone, it looks like either their P/N 78-6749 or P/N 78-8365F might work. The former says it's for "F5TF-BJA-BJF" with calibration 5-90A; the latter says it's for module code DPC-202 with any calibration. Consistency in the specifications sure would be nice.

There is no indication anywhere on my truck (door pillars, engine compartment, glove box, etc.) about the emission calibration, so I can't follow that path.

Any thoughts on which PCM is the right one? Any thoughts on better choices?

Life shouldn't be this difficult.

Thanks.
