Motorcraft oil for the 6.7

Do you guys like the Motorcraft oil? I have always run rotella syn in all my past diesels but with this new truck, I want to just use all of Motorcraft Oil and keep the Ford Lords happy. I personally think its a good oil to use.

By the way I do lots of maintenance so I always change my oil at 5000 to 6000 miles anyways.

Are there any of you guys out there that run motorcraft religiously?

Thanks in advance!

This is my first Ford, so I'm letting the dealership handle the maintenance at this point. This is also my first diesel.
On my GMC I used Mobil One. It seemed to run about 15 degree's cooler that way.

Ford Motorcraft 5W-40W Full Synthetic for me

strokin83 01-15-2013 10:06 AM

It's all personal preference really. I'm a big proponent of Synthetic due to oil analysis. My last one came back with a recommendation for 10,000 mile intervals while using the Rotella 5w40 syn. But I'm not saying the Motocraft is bad either I think if you stay within the factory interval your fine. There is a guy in the 6.0 forum that got 582,000 miles out of his original engine while using the Motorcraft brand. Sad thing is he thought the motor was bad so he pulled it to replace and found that he had a bad copper seal on the injector. And his internal engine components looked great considering the mileage. So that being said you have a good plan go with it haha.

5w-40 100% synthetic Ford oil because I ain't got no choice.
Just bought a 2013 f-350 6.7, 4x4, dually, loaded lariat. Paid a fortune for the 100,000 mi, 7 yr maintenance plan with 100% synthetic at 5,000 mi. My use is considered very "heavy", dusty and off road. Interstate and mountain roads with 6,000+lb. load (heavy cab over camper with lots of other heavy stuff like Road Armor bumper with winch, huge tool (gun) box in place of rear seats, etc.
It cost almost $2,000 more to go from fossil oil to synthetic on that plan!

The factory fill was changed at 4,700 and I've run Motorcraft 15w-40 to my current 41,000 miles with 5,000-6,000 miles changes.
I may switch to T6 full synthetic next oil change but that depends on how much of the current oil I have remaining.

ruschejj 01-15-2013 10:49 AM

I switched to T6 synthetic because its cheaper than the Motorcraft oil. I change my oil when the truck tells me too, which is usually around 7500 miles.

My penny pinching is due to the fact that I drive almost 6,000 miles per month, it all adds up quickly for me.

Rotella is all I'd use

Tomahawk 01-15-2013 12:31 PM

I run T6 in my truck, tractor and ATV's.

kper05 01-15-2013 01:03 PM

Motorcraft was cheaper but not anymore.
I was getting it for $17 for 5 qts and now it's $26.
Same Auto Zone...

Ive run. Motorcraft synthetic blend inabout 7 different vehicles. Ive got a 94 f 150. With. 295, 000 miles never a anything done to it. Its treated my diesels well.
But im like Kyper 05. The price is starting me to thinking a different route may be ahead.

doczenith1 01-15-2013 01:38 PM

Walmart near me has T5 for $17 and T6 for $22. Mobil 1 is $27. I found Mobil 1 for $22 at Meijer so that's what I used when I changed my oil last week. The only Motorcraft they have at Walmart is 15W40.

tolliewolly 01-15-2013 07:20 PM

Well thanks for everyone's thoughts. I may just run rotella syn then but I will def use motorcraft oil filters!

RM2012F350 01-15-2013 07:46 PM

Rotella T6 and nothing else!!

kper05 01-15-2013 07:58 PM

I couldn't even find Rotella T6 the other day at Walmart or AutoZone.
Doesn't seem too popular in my area.
Haven't had time to check Orileys but I'm betting they have it.
If not I'll spend more money driving two hours round trip to Tractor Supply because I know they have 1 gal for $24.
