What are torque specs for head bolts and main bearings?

About to snug the new head on and could really use the info on how much the OEM torque is and also on the crank/ piston bolts. Would be good to know tolerances as Im about to plasti gage the main bearings.......... thankx!!!!!

Pete, If you were doing head studs, is that the order you would put them in at torque step one and do the step two and three?

IIRC the ARP instructions have the same illustrations and specs torque wise. But if I were to do the one at a time swap I would follow the same pattern. That really doesn't answer your question Glenn. I can't recall what they did on the rig I witnessed having the head studs installed in that manner. Clay would know for sure.

Glenn
If you're just replacing bolts with studs without removing the heads you risk breaking the seal between the head/gasket/block if you start @ 65 and work your way up to 105. When I did mine I replaced one bolt at a time using the sequence as in step 2 and torqued it to 105 and then used the sequence in step 3 to bring them up to 125.

Start at factory spec, 105 ft lbs and then move up doing it one for one.

Sounds good, thanks!
