Pictures are long gone but procedure works. Look at post #26 ...

Its NORMAL for you not find it, OK? so dont worry. }>

There are three ways to check the map sensor.

First is to unplug the electrical connector and drive it around a bit. You will get a cel and the PCM will attempt to run a pre-programed routine to emulate the map sensor. If your truck runs a bit better in this mode then the map sensor is probably not working.

Second is to leave the electrical connection plugged in and disconnect the hose at the sensor. Plug the hose end with duct tape or something and take it for a drive. If it drives really dogie then the sensor is probably OK.

The best way to test the sensor is to use a Digital-Volt-Ohm meter with a frequency option (Hz) scale, some do and some don't have that option. Get a really tiny sewing needle and stick it through the middle wire on the map sensor, that is map signal out. Connect the DVM to it and other lead to ground. Here are the results I got ...

KOEO 108.6 Hz Key On - Not started
600 RPM 108.4 Hz
1000 RPM 108.6 Hz
1500 RPM 109.2 Hz
2000 RPM 111.1 Hz
2500 RPM 111.8 Hz

This was in park sitting in my driveway. Your results may vary somewhat due to altitude. I'm about 2000 ft. It was interesting to see that with KOEO atmospheric pressure caused the map to run at 108.6 Hz and at idle (600) rpm I dropped a bit below atmospheric. Above 1000 rpm I began picking up boost above atmospheric.

Oh, and don't forget to check that tini-tiny little hole where the hose plugs into the engine.
Also a good place for clogs.

I have this in my records, I hope it helps you. :-X22

Probably should have used those metal zip ties instead, right?

I figured the metal might rub through and cause a short. Lol

Test drove the new .91 turbo housing and got three codes. Oh well, it boosted a little sooner and ran good!

P0478 Exhaust Pressure Control Valve High Input
P0236 Turbo Boost Sensor A Circuit Performance
P1211 ICP Not Controllable - Pressure Abow/Below Desired

A 1211 with no 5er?!?!

You have a regulator in the map line don't you?

The .91 making too much drive pressure?!?!

Weird stuff!

oldbird1965 03-24-2016 09:42 PM

I never did put the regulator back in. I don't know about the drive pressure. These codes were on Andrew's 100hp. Reset and went for it again with Tony's tunes and got a 478 again. (Tony's were tuned for II's)

This is what James Barder said:

Glenn, Your tunes should have the overboost codes shut off, as for the Exhaust pressure control valve, thats your EBP valve being deleted, ICP not controllable may be a bad ICP or IPR.

I just hate the thought of torturing the map with twice the boost of factory. Andrew was told you had one as well..I may have messed up buddy.i thought I remembered you having one as well.

oldbird1965 03-25-2016 10:24 AM

I have one from Dieselsite and I had two boost gauges on it with the mare. One would show the boost the map was seeing and the other what the turbo was actually putting out. It worked for awhile then screwed up. I put a little WD40 is there like they post on there website but didn't help. I complained to them and they sent me another valve but still no luck so I left it off. A lot of people have had good luck with dieselsite's boost fooler but I haven't. I might dig that out again and mail it back to them to check out. Butttttt, if all it takes is to shut off those codes then all your really doing is protecting the map, right? Do you have one Aaron?
