Would you mind telling us how much $$ you have in it?

USArmyTaterness 02-11-2012 05:43 AM

Looks good man.

About your steering how close does it come at full bump?

pruitt 02-11-2012 02:09 PM

Well. I sat down the other day and done a few calculations and come up with 13 k . But I rebuilt every piece other than the body and interior. That's next after I replenish the bank a little. This price is including buying a truck for the body and the bluebird school that I used the motor out of.

At full lock the bolts that stop the nuckle against the axle housing has 1/4 in gap. I need to weld me a nut to them so it will touch

USArmyTaterness 02-11-2012 03:34 PM

Could be worse I suppose did it come with crossover or did you fab it in yourself

havi 02-11-2012 04:47 PM

Awesome! :-X22

I fabbed it up... I started this thing with a blasted frame setting on two 55 gallon barrels and a quart of por15......

fordtrucknut 02-12-2012 01:26 AM

Did you build the Frame Perches and the custom cross member or did you buy em? If you bought em where from?? and you said you used the dodge trans?? how did it line up with the original trans cross member??

pruitt 02-12-2012 09:43 AM

I built the perches, the crossmember between the front spring hangers, the one under the motor and the one for the trans. I cut the original one out under the engine because it was in the way of the crossover steering and I couldn't get the engine as low as I wanted and it was in the way of the ac compressor. I didn't want to run a body lift or I could have just skinned the original under the engine down but it still might interfere with the steering. The original trans crossmember would have worked with some mods but I was going to have cut a big hunk out and replate it for the front driveshaft hitting it. It was easier to make one that worked than screw with the original..

Yeah I acquired enough parts to swap my 79 crew cab. But I'm going to do my 97 crew 350 4x4 first

76fordhighboy 02-12-2012 09:47 PM

i would like to get a 79 crew-cab but they are pulling in big bucks. my 2000 with a v10 was a freebie . running driving truck just rusty . my put the v10 in my 77 short bed 2 wd should run good

blackkawi400 02-13-2012 09:35 AM

You have templates or dimensions on all the parts for the cross members and mounts by chance? I may be about to do this swap since my block let go.

USArmyTaterness 02-13-2012 11:14 AM

Would you say there is room for dual turbos down there?

pruitt 02-13-2012 11:49 AM

No I just made the stuff as I went. I wish now that I had because I could a set myself. It's not to bad though. I will get you some pics of the stuff with some measurements if you need.

A truck without factory ac I would say yes but it is pretty tight with one.I used a second gen exhaust manifold and it was tight getting the exhaust down with out hitting the firewall. I don't know if a prefabbed kit for a dodge would fit. I don't have any experience with them.

4wydnr 02-13-2012 05:41 PM

You did a great job. Everything is nice and clean and just looks like it belongs.

Where did your hydroboost come from? I just mounted one in my truck and it looks similar.

pruitt 02-13-2012 10:20 PM

Thanks. For the compliment . It's a 97 astro booster and I think if I remember correctly a 99 3500 silverado master cylinder. First time I touched them I about threw myself through the front window. I was used to the old brakes in these trucks and wow what a difference. There is some good threads on here for hydroboost conversion.

Scifi266 02-13-2012 10:35 PM

pretty awesome build

That's about what I'm hoping for. I just need to get working on it.

Hmm good to know I may have the local exhaust shop route mine when it comes time

shovelmike 02-16-2012 10:58 AM

Wow

Beautiful job on the truck, I see you are into bikes too and have likely done some fabrication in that realm. Keep up the great work.

pruitt 02-18-2012 12:06 PM

Thanks shovelmike. I like my bikes. I could have had the truck done sooner if not for them and a hundred other projects. My buddy is building a model a and he is the fab man. I am the mechanic so together we make a pretty good team I say. I can fab it up but if he does it , it will be pretty, mine looks a little more rugged.

Scot 02-19-2012 12:46 PM

Yes there is! That is on the to be done list. Probably do a Southbend duel disk clutch first because I already got this one a bit warm pulling the sled.

I am working on a 79 crew cab f250 cummins swap and I was wondering how and if the np241 fit between the frame rails? I would sure appreciate any help with this. Thanks.

Great Job

JUST AWESOME!!!

black & blue 78/9 02-01-2019 11:58 PM

Siperduty springs

Did you build your own longer shackle brackets for the rear? Will the 99-04SD rear shackels work on the 78/79 ttucks? The front mounts, Any mods to them? Did you do a thread on the SD spring install? If not what thread did you reference?

Thanks Chris

Thanks Chris

there is a thread on it somewhere on here that another guy did, he used to have a nice single cab that is red with boggers on it. Front springs first, get the bolts with them and may have to drill out the front mount part to fit, I drilled the mount and the bushing in the spring to 7/8 but I would just try to run the SD bolts if I done it again. The shackles I built , they don't have to be as fancy as the ones I did, just some plate and holes. I cant remember the length but I could measure some time, your just looking to get the spring eye where it don't contact the frame because the leaf is longer than stock. the rear springs and front of the spring hangers are 04 chevy 3/4 ton , with the original front hanger on the back with a shackle flip.
