dont know where you are at but up in phoenix there were a couple of places with rangers that har the rearends in them. I think they went for around $400.

Now what engine are you planning to use because if its a big one, I am not sure the ranger rearend will hold up. Might want to ask the guys that are doing v8 swaps what they are using. or go over to the ranger station and look/ask there.

From what I remember, the mid 60's Bronco is the closest to fitting. Not sure how much fabricating needed to fit the Ranger.

Don't know if you got this taken care of yet ,but the 9" rear from 72 and older F-100 , F-150 series will bolt in your 48 like it was made for it. It is the same width and stud bolt pattern, 5 on 5.5 , You will need to use the U-bolts made for the 9 " as it is larger in that area.:-wink..... P.S It will handle a 460 engine with no problem.

Nothing wrong with the other rear, the 9" just fits better and is stronger. My 79 F-100 had the 9" and i had a 460 in it. Heavy foot caused it to burn up the tires to quick,L.O.L......:-X04....So I traded it for a 94 ranger.
