Fifth Wheel Prep Pack. and Pullrite slider
Looking at 2012 F350 SB and it has 5 er prep package.
I curently have a 04 F250 SB with pullrite slider hitch. I would like to know if anybody has heard of a converstion for this configuration. I love pullrite hitch and would like to keep hitch. Love how it auto slides, no worries and want to put in new truck. |
I didn't know they did the prep in swb trucks. But here is the adapter I use in mine to allow me to use my old hitch.

Also don't order crap from hitchanything.com they will give you the run around and not ship it out FYI. Took me over 2 weeks to figure out they were not going to ship it after they billed me and then another week for them to cancel the order and refund my money. While all that was going on my local truck guy had mine sitting in his place the next day and put in the truck a few bourse later bymyself.

They will put in the hitch prep but you cannot order the factory installed hitch with a short bed. Try U-Haul for towing supplies. I have been pleased over the years by the availability and prices. They install anything they sell, and it seems like wherever you are, there is one close by.

You will need to remove the factory prep and get a new frame mount kit from Pullrite. The factory prep will unbolt from the frame. I don't know if the holes in the bed will be in the same place . I took mine out of my 05 and installed it in my new truck. Great hitch.

Both Airsafe
Installation Rails and Trailersaver New! The BD3 Air-Ride 5th Wheel Hitch. sell adapters. Confirm that their adapters include the Ford donut parts or if you need to buy them separaterly. The donut parts are what is sold by Ford (and now others) to convert your old "Reese Elite" aftermarket underbed hitch to "Reese Elite" hitch that will fit the 2011 factory prep. You also rotate the Reese base 180 degrees to move the centerpin forward for the 2011 setup. If youfail to do so, the pin will be behind the rear axle causing a lot more sag... Also, FYI, earlier aftermarket underbed adapter plates for the early (pre-2011) puck systems will not work on 2011 factory prep- the donut bolts are shorter, smaller diameter, and the hitch pin position in the bed will end up behind the wheel (like not rotating the elete hitch 180 degrees). I know Airsafe has this figured out because I helpd get them there. Trailsaver's photos look like they have also. |
An FYI for those using the Super Glide, the best pricing I found for the Slip Plate was the Slip Plate website.
I bought 6 cans (case) at a time and got the best price, free shipping and no tax. |

I spoke with someone at PullRite and they are coming out with an adapter for the Ford Prep Kit so you can put your SuperGlide in it. No need to uninstall the factory prep package. Sounds like it should be available within the month.
GREAT info! I've always liked the PullRite... biz :-X21 |
I forgot to say that either of these adapters allow you to use any hitch with the Ford factory prep /underbed puck system. Airsafe uses a full set of standard rails, while Trailsaver provides the 4 pin slots used by almost every hitch.

I had heard about the new style, but I changed trucks and hitches.
I still use the slip plate thought to lube the new hitch. |
Spoke with RV dealer who sold me the Pullrite IST slider, and he spoke with Pullrite.
Currently no plans for adapter convertion for IST type hitch, did not discuss the super slider seriers. There is a adapter through reese that will fit the ford prep package and then install my IST series slider, cost about 350. May just try to find truck without 5th wheel prep package. |
Pullrite
When I had my 2003 F350 short bed and had the superslide and loved it. Worked as advertised. When I bought my 2012 F350 I didn't get the hitch prep because it would only work with Reese. Pullrite hitches are much better then Reese (no clunking when you stop and go). All I needed to do was buy Pullrite mounting brackets. I have the regular Pullrite hitch now because my new truck is a long bed. My local trailer place did the work and it was about 300 bucks fhttps://www.ford-trucks.com/user_gal...id=247449&.jpgor the brackets and rails.
