351M to 460 swap?

I have a 79 Bronco with 351M C6 trans . Motor is stuck so i bought a 75 460 out of a motor home . Some of the threads i have read on swaps have seemed to run into alot of problems. Will the 460 bolt in without alot of hassle? Power steering ,a/c , should be same from the looks of things ,and my guess is to keep 460 flywheel ? headers and aluminum intake on 351m work on 460?

PS and AC pump an compressor may work, but it's a fair bet you need the brackets from the 460.

Keep the 460 flexplate.

Headers and intake will not work, not even close. The bore spacing is quite a bit wider on the 460. 351m is the same as SBF.

You will probably need a bigger radiator also.

One of my friends did this swap and was pretty happy with it, but it was nose heavy, especially with a winch, and it over heated unless moving.

He had a shop do it, so I can't tell you many more details, but search the swap via google and you'll find dozens of hits.

use the 460 motor complete as you can. save and reuse the stock manifolds for the time being and use those funds for some L&L product mounts and such.

i would run at least a 3core radiator but the one you have may be fine just be prepared to swap it out if the 460 doesnt cool enough.

a 351m is not the same as a sbf and infact the 351m/400 intake is the widest of the bunch and much wider then the 460 intake.

True, but the bore spacing is the same which is the primary reason the headers would not work.

i am pretty sure the 460 will bolt up to ur existing transmission; not so if the 351 is a Windsor, like mine. from what pretty sure kemicalburns is correct, go with the 3-core radiator. here is a link from another site on this swap, not an exact swap, but a 460 into a bronco. The modified block has the big block pattern bellhousing. He'll be fine with that.
