No DTC's on Scangauge II with 6.0???
I purchased a Scangauge II to ck DTC's on my 04 Excursion 6.0. I was unable to pull any but upon taking the Ex to the dealer they instantly pulled (3) codes... One for a MAF, one for the glow plug module, and one for the EGR (i unplugged it...). Why didnt the ScangaugeII tell me any of these? I was fooled into thinking this device was compatible w/ the 6.0 PSD. Here is something I also found while on a hunt for info:
The Ford Powerstroke Diesel loosely follows the On Board Diagnostic system known as OBD/II (OBD-2). Because the PSD is weight rated above 8800lbs, the vehicle is not required to follow the structure exactly. Ford uses their own "manufacturer specific" coding system that follows the OBD/II template. Because of the 8800lb exemption, many generic OBD/II code readers cannot retrieve the manufacturer codes from the computer. Is this true??? If so, I feel we are being mislead. FYI: The MAF pigtail and the glowplug module were bad... |
Basicaly the scan gauge isnt a very good code reader but should get most generic codes but has a harder time with Dealer Specific codes
Most of us that use a SG use it for the Live PID Data capabilities all rthe X-gauges have you programed any x-gauges yet the SG is probably more compatible with a 6.0 than any other make that it covers there are better code readers/scanners out there just depends how much$$$ you want to throw at it |
No ScangaugeII DTC's
Thanks for the quick reply. Yes, I have a few xgauges in it so far. I like it for the gauges however based on what I read on the box and on the website I was led to believe it would tell me more... now I know different.
