2000 Expedition will not go into park
 

Found out last night that the X will not go into park. I am able to shift through all the gears but I can't bring shifter into park position. It stops somewhere between park and reverse but it is close enough to reverse that the reverse audio signal comes on and the vehicle will go backwards. When the vehicle is turned, the vehicle will roll when pushed.

Any suggestions?

Probably the same as an Excursion. (This IS the Excursion section, not the Expedition section.)

On the Excursion, there are some small torq screws that come loose and eventually fall out. They are under the driver's section up by the brake and gas pedals. Have someone move the shifter while you look around under. You should be able to find it.

Silly me. The problem is with my wife's Excursion, that is why it was posted in the Excursion forum. Anyways, all you advice came handy I was able to fix it!!! Now, I'm going to my Expedition and tighten those too!
