Need some info... 2002 Ford Explorer 4wd Not working
So my buddy's (who is not very net-saavy) 4x4 in his explorer is not working, no light comes on in the dash and won't shift into 4x4. So I offered to scan it for him using my Auto Enginuity with Ford package. :-blah
Well, found a couple O2 sensor codes.... but AE wouldn't read the 4x4 system.... said "communication failed" or something to that extent. :-huh Would a bad 4wd Shift Control Module make the AE not be able to communicate with the powertrain and not be able to scan it? :-X15 Apreciate the help. :-whud |

if you dont hear a click behind glovebox when you select 4High or 4low. then it couled be the 4x4 control module. it's behind glove box attached to the blower housing. replaced mine `2 yrs ago

Were pretty sure thats what it is, but I'm really trying to figure out if the 4x4 Control Module being bad would cause a No-Communication Fault on a scan tool. :-X18 |

Try disconnecting the battery for 10 min, this sometimes allows the control module to reboot... Philip
