I bet you are... Congrats...:-X0A6 I have a 2010 F150/5.4/3.55 and it does ok but I am going to step up to either a 2012 EcoBoost, if they up the payload like I heard they might, or an F250. Just trying to balance out the towing and the daily driving gas price mileage thing :(

Has any of you had the Tranny problem like folks are talking about in

My rig & trailer

Finally remembered to take some pics of the rig while it was still hooked up. This is coming back from camping trip number four for the year. Not as many as I would like but hey, what do ya do? Tows a lot better than my old 08 F-150 but still not at easy as I thought it would pull. I'm gonns check the bearings when I get a chance to see if maybe one or two is hanging up. Always keep the tires inflated to 65psi so not sure. It doesn't do bad, just not as easy as I thought with a big motor and 4.30's. Done a few trips across MI probably about 900 miles total now. Get about 8.5 - 9.5 towing. Not too bad. I get 13 back and forth to work. I just rolled 5k on this trip.

Oh yeah, and I did have the major 2-3 shift screw up today with the 5ver hooked up. Totally not cool. As soon as it did the dead fish I let up on the throttle and then "slam" it went it 3rd. I thought it was gonna snap the fifth wheel brackets out of the bed :( Gonna have to take it in. That and a piece of weather stripping on the driver's side door keeps rolling up when I put the window up so air leaks there, annoying.

larriveeman 08-07-2011 09:06 PM

how heavy is the trailer and tongue weight

Radioactive 4x4 08-07-2011 11:29 PM

Trailer is 8800# dry I believe. Not sure on the tongue weight. How do you find out that?

Super08 08-07-2011 11:40 PM

Scale your truck and then re weigh it with the trailer hooked up.

My truck was 7890. Then I hooked on the trailer and it was 10580. The difference is 2690 which is the hitch weight. You can then add this on to the trailer axle weight (10,000) to give a total trailer weight of 12,690lb. To go further the GVCW is 20,580lb. You just need a scale and the time to weigh it hooked up and then the truck by itself to work out the weights. I usually weigh each axle alone to check for balance and any axle over loads.

(mine is back on page 6)

That looks like the perfect set up to go fishing in some back woods lakes. Nice!

I need your guys opinion. After 2 months of waiting on a truck I ordered.....nothing! Dealer says it should be made..Dealer is being lied to by Ford or very nieve. Anyhow since I can't find a 6.2 in the country with 4.30's in it in a crew cab, I think I'm gonna pull the trigger on one with 3.73 Gearing. I pull a 5 ver dry weight of 6700 lbs, so about 8k loaded normal and probably 9k loaded really heavy. I occasionally pull triple and this pushes me up to 12000 pounds towing. My dilemma....buy a 2011 with 3.73's and save a couple grand? Or wait till rebates go up, and order a 2012 for about the same price. Or....buy the 2011, and If i don't like the gearing...re-gear with 4.30
s. I think I can do that for around 1000-1500 bucks....guy I work with is good mechanic and doew rear end work. What ya think. I coming from a 2005 6.0, and I'm trying to do something before i hit the magical 100,000 mile mark on the truck....3000 miles to go and counting....

Thanks.

It can be hard to find someone who can install gears without having them whine. Fine for a work truck or off roading but very annoying on a personal truck you drive all the time.
Go back to the dealer and ask for the dealer number and your order number and post the numbers in the Superduty forum explaining your situation. Someone should be able to check it out for you and get the status. As far as I know the plant is done with MY 2011. If it is your order if not built would have been kicked out of the order bank and would need to be resubmitted by the dealer as a 2012 order. If you are going to pay this much for a truck you may as well get it equipped the way you want it.
