Ford fuel guage-GM tank/sending unit

I am trying to hook up my fuel guage. I relocated the fuel tank from behind the seat to the frame using a GM tank. When i hook up the GM sending unit to the guage nothing. When i hook up the original sending unit and move the lever the guage works. Is the Ford fuel guage and GM sending unit compatible?:-huh

Nope, you are outta luck as each reads opposite ends of the OHM spectrum. 0 to 90 vs 150 to 100.

Only cure is to place the correct ford sender in the tank or go with aftermarket Gauge and sender.

Too funny I just fixed that issue on the weekend on my truck. I installed dolphin gauges in my truck and it is set up for a gm sending unit, 0-90ohms which they give you with the gauges. My tank is a midship from a 75 f150 and it was reading backwards with the new gauges, so when I measure the ford unit out of the tank i was reading about 70 on empty and 12 or so on full approx quick readings. Anyhow I took the resistor off of the gm sending unti supplied with my gauges and welded it to my ford sending and now its all good. Hope this helps you understand what you need to do, maybe see if you can install you sending unit resistor onto you gm unit.
