Taking Apart A Center Console

I want to install a couple of 12 volt outlets in the rear of the center console. I have installed one, but it is only held in by a couple screws into the plastic shell of the console.........would like to use small screws and nuts instead....... need to get the console apart to do this...... Any ideas

It's a little pricey for the tool, but riv-nuts would take care of some the problem.

What vehicle is this in?

RE center console rivnuts

This is for a 2006 F250. I canot get my hand between the outside shell and the inside of the center console to hold a nut. I thought there might be a way to take the center console apart.

You don't have to use machine nuts. Since it will be next to a hole, a cheaper option than riv-nuts would be speed nuts(also called, Easy nuts, e nuts, clip nuts, ect). They are the sheet metal clips with the holes in them.

If you must use standard nuts, you might have some luck getting to the location from underneath. Unbolt the console from the floor and take a look.
