I stay with 9mm with my autos for a number of reasons, but the biggest one is reliability........I have seen too many .40s and .45s with failures to feed/eject etc. 9mm? none of my 9s have ever failed on me, chips down, I would rather hit em' with a 9mm everytime than have something bad happen with a .40 or .45. I love my 1911 .45........But I do not trust it.

have you ever used a springfeild xd 40? i have shot countless boxes out of my brothers and it has never jammed or missfired..

9mm just seem to small for me..

Old93junk 11-12-2010 02:35 PM

I have heard good things about the XD, just not ready to make the jump.
Personal defense 9mm round I depend on is the COR-BON 115GR JHP +P+ at 1490fps and 402ft lbs of energy.......rivals any .40 or .45 in stopping power.....even comes with a warning not to be fired in some foreign made pistols or compact frame pistols, not for the faint at heart.

I'll keep my Beretta, it's been a really good gun. I'd just like to get another toy!

Old93junk 11-12-2010 02:44 PM

Does not matter what the caliber is, if a semi-auto pistol is not reliable as a revolver.......get rid of it!......it has to go BANG! everytime you pull the trigger.

Heck, I am depending on a .380 auto for a CC pistol........just big enough to get the job done and small enough to carry without being a pain.

I believe the small pistol you actually carry, is better than the big one left at home because its a pain in the ass to carry.

67nukeford 11-12-2010 02:46 PM

I only carry the 9. But, I'm an auto guy. Come to think of it, never owned a wheel gun.

im planning on getting a keltec 380 for my concealed carry.. those things are small and a blast to shoot

Got a mod 687 S&W .357 mag its a nice revolver, but I can shoot my Beretta 92 and SIG226 9mm much better. Got a Ruger .44 mag Blackhawk..........its real accurate for the first round!

im2tall33 11-12-2010 02:51 PM

hey first is all that matters right? lol
i have to find a video for you guys we were shooting a s/w 460 at a watermelon

Great little pistol!.....COR-BON makes a 85 gr jhp at 1085 fps that is as good as a .38spl. Thats what I use.......man it kicks in a little pistol though!

S&W 460?.......is that a crew serviced weapon?! ha.
Too big for me, I get tired out from too many .357 mags!

Like Micah said, that's the important one! I've shot a desert eagle .45 before, that thing was a monster! Impressive to look at, but just too damn heavy.

I'll tell you another one that kicks for a little pistol...that S&W Airweight I picked up a couple of months ago. Good thing it's only for close in work...don't think I could hit the side of a barn with it from 25 feet.
