Elk or deer?

im2tall33 11-12-2010 11:22 AM

deer.. elk has been closed for a while.. we only get like 2 and a half weeks for elk...it sucks!!

67nukeford 11-12-2010 11:27 AM

Too bad. I prefer elk much more than deer!

im2tall33 11-12-2010 11:28 AM

me too.. but deer sausage is mighty good!!! im going to make jalapeno cheddar smokies this year.. i already have meat from my deer last year and am hoping for another so i can make more!!

Old93junk 11-12-2010 11:32 AM

Elk steak, elk jerky.........accept no substitutes.

im2tall33 11-12-2010 11:34 AM

lol they way i see it is i prefer elk steaks and burger so my deer can become my sausage and jerky.

Old93junk 11-12-2010 11:36 AM

When we can, we ditch the turkey and have elk steaks and salmon fillets for Thanksgiving.
A real Pacific NW thanksgiving.

im2tall33 11-12-2010 11:38 AM

yeah.. we are frying two turkeys this yeat and a ham.. its going to be good!!!!

Old93junk 11-12-2010 11:40 AM

No elk or deer this year................looks like turkey.
Do have 1 big chinook in the freezer yet.

There is nothing better than a fried turkey! We are doing one in the oven, and I'm also frying one for Thanksgiving. I usually fry one at Christmas also.

im2tall33 11-12-2010 12:15 PM

yeah after having the fried turkey no one in my family wants to go back lol..im excited to try the fried ham too

Old93junk 11-12-2010 12:16 PM

Ever turn one on the rotisserie over charcoal BBQ?..........Man, thats good eats.

Gotta have a BIG BBQ and lots of briquettes, but its worth it.

im2tall33 11-12-2010 12:18 PM

nope not yet.. but mabe this summer i will try that

Old93junk 11-12-2010 12:21 PM

Don't need to be summer......I have BBQed just fine in 20 degree weather, you just need a area where your grill is covered by a patio and out of the wind.
Drives neighbors nuts, they smell it and get jealous because they are stuck with inside food!
