We have about the same amount of snow here..but not the ice topping

Steve GG 01-29-2017 08:05 PM

That ice is terrible. We have had a few of those storms down here..

56panelford 01-29-2017 08:07 PM

It's not very often we get it here and I don't recall anything that severe to snap poles..southern Ontario gets it bad..

bernette 01-29-2017 08:07 PM

that ice been there for 5 days, and with the colder weather its not going to fall of soon. while i was working around the house ,you could here ice falling of trees . it sounded like somebody was breaking dishes.

Steve GG 01-29-2017 08:18 PM

I have heard those sounds as well Brian.. broken branches ...

56panelford 01-29-2017 08:21 PM

Could be the sun just melting the ice on the branches and falling off...

Steve GG 01-29-2017 08:29 PM

That it probably was John.. one storm had a hard time getting into the truck.. it was iced over..

56panelford 01-29-2017 08:37 PM

When I lived in Toronto we had a real bad storm in the winter that was a tail end from a hurricane, Lake Ontario had 40 foot waves and the ice build up on the lake shore was unbelievable trapping cars in ice about a foot thick, did all kinds of damage, winds sucked out windows from high rise office buildings ,power lines down, you name it...lol

Wow...400 poles down. I can see why it is taking as long to restore the power..

Steve GG 01-29-2017 08:43 PM

That was an interesting article Brian..
