its getting there. it was a lil low on power at first after the 7 hours of the battery being unhooked. but once got almost home it started coming back to how it normally runs.... JUST PLAIN HARD!!!

460/5 04-03-2010 10:05 PM

lol. well thats good!

nflfreak43 04-03-2010 10:07 PM

yeah. finally got someone else to confirm it had a Cam in it. not the stock 351 HO marine cam. its got a rough idle and when ya first hit the gas it hesitates like its catching a breath and then hauls ass.

he said when i first started it up after i got it off the roll back he was like oh chit. no wonder he talks so much bout this truck. the cam is bumpin.

460/5 04-03-2010 10:11 PM

lol. that rocks man. i adjusted the timin on my ol 460 and it does that now too. its just a stock 460, but you can tell its a big breather. if you stomp it, it does this little... like this: brumburmbrum-shwaBRUUUUUMM!! lol. :-X20

What's the truck, the '76? Does it have a 9" rear? They do make rather nice and strong full spools for these axles, the only reasons I welded mine up is that it was basically free.

the 76 is in my sig. no good pics of it or id put some up. yes, it has a 9" rear.

A little progress

I took out the heater box then the leaking core.. I'll pick up one Monday. Not bad 20 bucks. U just cant find a good rad shop around anymore.
I tightened up the loose vac lines and tweeked the carb a little. It's sounding better. Ye getting the water pump then too.

sounds like you should move up a size in your carb jets:-X0A6

greyghost85 04-04-2010 06:42 AM

or do you have injectors?

460/5 04-04-2010 08:04 AM

lol. its port injected EFI darrell... i wish she was carbie...

Eh, carbs are obsolete - the EEC-IV system that truck runs is about as simple and reliable as can be, I'd never trade one of those for a carb on a daily-driver vehicle.
