Actually it sounded almost like a lifter tap. However, the oil is old and at this point probably low. My main concern at the time was getting it back in it's spot since it had been stuck in the neighbors driveway.. |
Figured out why my engine wouldn't start, had 2 wires turned around. Pulled the 9" form under it and am in process of installing the 10.25. That axle is a brute! and heavy too!

Coil wires? That was my issue when I first got TGM. We tried to tune it and the coil wires had been cut and re-taped by the PO. One wire broke connection and that was the end. Cost me over 150 in guessing what part broke.

So I broke my pass side outter shaft while in a tandem pull. Great time to install the chromoly 35 spline shafts I bought a while ago.

I got the 10.25 bolted up today and was working on new brakes when realized that I was missing a slack adjuster and the adjuster cable on other side is only half there. Also noted the park brake cables will not work. Back to the parts store.

Getting closer! New park brake cables installed, new wheel cyliders,new brake pads,and new drums installed. Got tired of fighting those retaining springs so I made a tool from some 5/16 rod to help install. Works sweet.

I fired up the bronco today, after about 3 months. I plan to drive it tomorrow night to work.

I found some tires, wadda think? 9.5 x 16 BFG Silvertowns. Tires were free, tubes cost me $80.

Pulled the '78 out of the weeds and. Got it running. 4tires, a lot of soldering to fix gas tank and new track arm bushings, just needs new wiper blades now.

I wanted to use aluminm sheet but all I had was stainless steel. Traced the cuts onto steel and cut with zip disk and 4" grinder. Then I marked the bends and folded it up and secured it with stainless screws. Gound off the inside pointed end of screws, then installed it and marked and predrilled the holes. Reinstalled it and the door with more stainless screws. Next step will be to find some felt to glue to inside to eliminate anything metal thrown in there from rattling. I made it to fit tight with no extra holes so now mice won't be trying to make their home in it anymore. |
Damn that's pretty awesome! I dislike the paper one just because Washington is kind of a rainy place so everything gets hit by moisture. Paper doesn't hold up well.

I thought you'd like taht idea. JBG sells a plastic one too. I haven't run the ag tread yet, still waiting on parts. My Bronco addiction forced me to start driving my '78 again. This time I have parts on hand to fix what needs fixing!:-jammin Well most of them anyhow. Need to change the PS pump, I don't think it's doing it's job at all, also some steering stabilizes would be nice. It never had a coolant overflow tank so I took the one from the '94 F150 and made a simple bracket to mount it to the fender. Almost fell over backward when I discoverd the stock '78 pump connector was the same! Now I can save all the antifreeze that boils out. Tonight I need to find a reciever hitch and evict the mouse nest from the heater. |
