degreased.....degreased, some more

Bayer-Z28 02-18-2010 08:28 PM

Changed the oil and cleaned the air filter.. Mobil1 oil and Napa gold filter. Seafoamed it again a couple days ago.. :D Early bug-fog for the neighborhood.

greyghost85 02-18-2010 09:12 PM

what kind of truck do you have, bayer?

Bayer-Z28 02-18-2010 09:32 PM

^ 1995 F-150 5.0, E4OD, 2wd Xtended cab.. (in sig).. Gonna try some Mobil1 this time and see how it holds up. I go by mileage and the feel of the oil now to tell when it needs to be changed. Changed the oil on the camaro (Royal purple and Mobil1) at 7500 miles and it still felt new. I felt like I was wasting some serious money. I just change the Mobil1 Filter @ 3k now. The truck is my DD, so I like it to have some durable oil to withstand these A-Hole Harford CT traffic and my driving..

If you want oil that doesn't thin out at warm temps as it get's older get oil for a diesel engine. They're polymers have a much higher sheer strength, hence they still give you the same lubrication much longer.

Yep, that's pretty much it - I drove a tractor-trailer in a previous life, and to this day I still just assume there's someone's grandpa on a big Harley drafting me, try to drive the truck as if that guy's life depends on it, cause one day it just might!

i had some real good results with Mobile 1. I have heard good things about Rotella

LCAM-01XA 02-19-2010 08:03 AM

Rotella for gasoline or diesel engines? Dunno about the gasser stuff, but I'm less than impressed by the regular (non-synthetic) diesel Rotella... Altho I did use to run diesel Rotella in my old 350 SBC, as per recommendations from a cam manufacturer.
