So in your travels .. what has peaked your interest, year and model wise???

56panelford 07-20-2018 10:23 AM

I seen a 48-52 F-1 and a 55-57 chevy and not completely sure what the other one was but looks like it might be late 30's but is in pieces so hard to tell what make, the top has been chopped of it so not sure until I can hopefully talk with who ever owns it and if it is something he might be willing to sell. It's just sitting in his yard and has no garage to work in..

Steve GG 07-20-2018 10:27 AM

Sounds like a good variety to choose from.. I had a 57 Chevy bump side short bed for a while... Guess I should have kept it..

56panelford 07-20-2018 10:36 AM

I'm going to head back that way again hopefully next week and check them out if I can find anyone home. My cross member should soon be shipped too so will have to go pick it up when it arrives, hoping to hear from them soon..

Steve GG 07-20-2018 10:40 AM

That will keep you busy for a few days when it arrives..

56panelford 07-20-2018 10:44 AM

They say it can be done in a weekend and that's likely true if I was about 20 years younger...lol I know there is going to some work modifying my inner fenders and figuring out how I'll have to redo my steering linkage, might have to get a different pair of headers too..good chance the panel won't see the road again this year..

Steve GG 07-20-2018 10:48 AM

I guess it will be a fair project then since it sounds like it is going to be some major disassembly..

56panelford 07-20-2018 10:55 AM

All the front sheet metal needs to be removed , likely the motor too but going to see if I can avoid that and work around it. All the steering linkage and complete cross member needs to be removed but at least it is only bolted in place..

Steve GG 07-20-2018 10:58 AM

That does Sound like a fair amout of work..

56panelford 07-20-2018 11:08 AM

It's going to take a bit of figuring out how to do it without removing the motor which I hope I can do otherwise I'm going to need to have the A/C discharged then recharged again once it's all back together

Turd-250 07-20-2018 11:21 AM

morning john! morning steve!

56panelford 07-20-2018 11:21 AM

Hello to you Rob, you getting a chance to take it easy at work...?

Turd-250 07-20-2018 11:23 AM

today i am! well, i gotta get some stuff done, but its all busy work. and i've only got about 4 1/2 hrs left and then i'm off for the weekend!

Turd-250 07-20-2018 11:26 AM

also been thinking a lot about what i want to do with my ranger. i'm still wanting to put a 302 in it. starting to lean towards using an auto out of an explorer as opposed to a t5 or something. i think i'll be happy with the auto as long as i get some good stuff done with the motor. still not sure on which good stuff either lol

Turd-250 07-20-2018 11:27 AM

then again i've thought a lot about going with a 4.0 with manual trans out of another ranger or explorer. clean install. just going to tune it, put headers on it, a cam, remove cat... and save up for a supercharger and fuel upgrades. if that pushed 300 hp then id be ok with that.
