Tinkering on the new truck

Just bought this '93 5.8 4x4 on wednesday so been tinkering with it this weekend. Kid who had it before me obviously didn't take care of it in the time he had it but someone definitely put some money into it at one time. he said the engine had a valve tick which actually ended up being a small exhaust leak in the header and said the trans felt like it was going out which after reading codes and getting some online advice lead me to the VSS so today went through read some trouble codes replaced some parts and tried to clean up the look.

New Parts:
-VSS
-coolant temp sensor
-pcv valve
-small PS JBA header crack

In addition I did a little Plastidipping and seafoaming today also removed all the old glue from the fenders where the emblems used to be (not pictured) by the way 1 part veg oil 2 parts baking soda makes a great goo gone!

Next on the list:
-plastidip bumpers/wheels
-F250 front springs to level her out
-new (used) front seats
-shampoo carpets, cause they are yucky

Stoked to be back in a Ford truck!

Ball joints today. wasn't so bad of a job and my steering and suspension feel so much better. It's like a new truck.

Replaced the rear driveshaft u-joint at the differential because it was vibrating like crazy. Pulled one cap off and it had no needle bearings and they were all broken in the opposite cap. And of course Bond had to give me the wrong part the first time.

Ran seafoam through the 300. Not as much smoke as I anticipated

Installed the distributor. Hoping to get new plugs and wires soon as those plugs are passed due plus they are champions EWWW! All on the 89 F250. The truck devolved a small miss and I am not sure which is causing it plugs or wires.

went chasing after a small exhaust leak, found a ~1/8" hole in the thermactor crossover tube... and the connector melted to it. of course i moved it to try and prevent it getting worse and now it won't start. i'm pretty sure its the one that carries signal to the injectors.

Glad the highboy was at the shop. i'm guessing that im gonna be doing some wiring tomorrow. hopefully I can find a good connector to take its place

After getting 5-7 MPG yesterday on the way to town I said screw it we bought a set of plugs (autolite) and plug wires through it on the truck and went back into to town I went into town with 1/2 tank and when I got in town it was at half a tank (21 miles one way) I think I am getting about 12-14 MPG runs like a top and has awesome power. The plugs in there were way past due. Put it on a code reader for kicks and giggles first test showed up 02 sensor lean then pass then pass again. I am loving this truck a lot more now. Before we had to shift in and out of OD to maintain speed now nothing too it. This is on the 89 F250 351W

Well I started out by trying to find out why I have been losing more oil lately. Well at first inspection it appears my oil pan has began to leak now. I sprayed it all down with brake cleaner so I can see where the drips lead tomorrow morning.

I also decided to mock up the cab lights again in the sun to see how I like them. I think they look good, but in a house full of people who don't much care for cars I got nothing but "they look bad". So I am looking to you guys for your opinions.

Ignore the bird crap. The first nice day we get since washing it and the birds decide to come out...

The cab lights look like crap. I'll take them, and the harness, off your hands for $20. :)

Seriously though, they look great, and even better at night. It's on the list of things to do to mine this year.

I love cab lights. I've been thinking about throwing some clear led ones on my truck but I hate to drill into it.

Fastback460 03-19-2014 07:56 AM

I think it looks good Evan, these trucks always look good with cab lights.
I'm thinking about installing them on my Dad's 93, since the new cab we swapped on doesn't have them, and the body shop that did the cab swap didn't want to put them on.

And what did I do to my truck? Nothing much, just drove 50 miles carrying 1,000lb of feed in the bed.

Evan usually I don't care much for cab lights on F150s but that looks good on your truck maybe it is the way it is painted and set up.

What did I do to the truck today?
Nothing really just did a crappy photo shot of how about I think the 91 should look and thankfully my brother agrees (minus he wants the black to be flatter and those ugly dodge towing mirrors which I think is stupid I personally love these stock mirrors.
I am definatly not the best but what do you guys think?
