on highways I'll tow anything up to 17,200# as that is where my GCVWR hits 26,000 (8,800 + 17,200).

The two gooseneck trailers I normally pull are a 10,200 GVWR cattle trailer, and a 16,000 GVWR hydraulic tilt float.

Once off of the highway, I'm comfortable with any trailer up to around 27,000# (27,000 * 10% = 2,700 tongue weight)

Don't take any stock in what Ford claims as GCVWR... it is a meaningless number. The GCVWR actually varies depending on the trailer you are pulling, and then your trucks capabilities vary depending on the roads you're traveling. As long as the tongue weight doesn't bust your trucks GVWR or RAWR, you can tow it.

As far as cutting into GCVWR, the trailer weight is always going to be there. These days you can find more and more aluminum trailers which have the same GVWR and lower curb weight, but they'll also not last as long (aluminum fatigue failures and such...)

    Howdy,

I've got a 2010 F250 that is the same as yours except 4x4. I'm thinking of putting in a gooseneck hitch and see you have one. How much weight do you normally tow? I'm trying to decide if its worth it since the goose I have available is 4600lbs and that really cuts into the GCWR. Thanks.

    Kyle
