Hey troytoy sorry for the late response, haven't been on the site in awhile. Yeah I'm still using 15-40, Shell Rotella-T. Tick went away for awhile but came back anyway, I really need to open up the top side and get at those cam phasers. The truck has 189,630 miles on it as of yesterday and to this date no adverse effects from using the heavier grade oil for over the last 100,000 miles or so. Others on the site would certainly disagree with me on the use of the 15-40, as the 5.4 was designed to run on the thinner 5-20 weight, so that's up to you. Depending on how many miles you have on the truck, you should think about having the cam phasers taken care of, that's what I'm doing but that's because I've been riding around with them ticking away for 155,000 miles.

Hey Mitch. Just bought a 04' F-150 super crew 5.4 V8 with 85,000 miles. I saw where you started using 15/40 and the ticking went away. I saw you used it for over a year. Are you still using it? How long did you use it, and did you ever notice any adverse affects? Also, what type oil did you use? Thank you in advance for your help!!!
