Stu, looking at the front of your truck reminded me of another question. my F3 has the V-8 emblem on the front of the hood and the F2 has some oval looking thing with wings on it and three lines in the oval. could the f2 have come with the inline 6? just want to make sure i get it right when i go to the courthouse friday. i think i will do a title search with the 67 plate. thats how i got the title for the F3.

Yes, Wayne said it. Back at the start of the thread I posted a pic of the truck showing it "has" a V8, but I didn't stop to think that it might have "had" a 215 six cyl. Goes to show what happens when you "***-u-me" something. The winged oval is the emblem for that engine (don't through it away. They are hard to find). The way to tell for certain which engine is correct is to look on the passenger side frame rail near the engine mount diagonal for the VIN. Like Wayne said, F2D2 is the six, F2R2 is the V8. Stu

i figured it was a six emblem and someone had swapped in the v8 later. i assume the hood is original because of the badges, when i get it back home i will see if i can find that vin on the frame. the title search off the old license plate might show the vin# to. i gotta take some pics of the front motor mount frame horns and send them to you Stu. they dont look the same, but then again they are not original on the f3. one or both of the M-H's are wrong. maybe i could use the right motor mounts out of the truck with the wrong motor in the truck with the right motor and the wrong mounts? and now i might have to find a I6? maybe a fuel inj. big block! thanks for the help! and wayne, to answer your question, i only got the last #'s of the vin, the first four are gone, mother nature you know.

Mark - the '52 motor mount diagonals are different that the 48 -51 style because of the change to the 215 six cylinder engine. The flat head V8 will fit either style mount, but not the six. I've got spare '52 mount diagonals if you need them. Might in a small way even the score on the wheel. Stu

stu, thanks for the comeback. so, will a r5/r6 fit in a f3? or are the u-joints and mounts bigger? i have to dispose of some toys, (dang), so the truck and drivelines will probably be second to go. (boats gone already). i want to retire and travel, and maybe, stop and pester some of you great folks. lol

Don't know whether the yokes and u-joints were the same. I've got to think the mounting cross members were the same because they are pretty stout. Chuck, though, confirmed for me a while back that the whole of the "R" series used the same transfer cases once they started installing them in the F-2/F-3 models. Also, keep in mind that the F-6 was not part of the "R" series. The various F-6 models (different wheel bases, tandem, COE, etc) were classed as the "V" series. The F-7 was the "Q" series. Don't know what the F-8 series was called. Stu

Good Morning Stu:
I have been on travel for the last two weeks and have not been able to get up here. While on travel for my job, I found, and purchased a 1953 1/2 ton Marmmon-Herrington. It was located in Northern California. When it comes to posting pictures I am certainly not as well versed as you are. If I sent you some pics of this M-H, might I impose on you to post some pics of this truck?
