Welcome to FTE!
If you do a search, you will find many post regarding the subject.
I am not sure how the others handled it, but I'm sure they will be along to give you their input.
Also , you should have had a check box for " this hasn't happend to me" just to see how the numbers go.

Yes, I have 99 F-250 super duty that had 4th plug on right side blow out at 52K, purchased and installed replacement only to have it blow out 2nd time at 62k taking the threads with it. Now in shop getting new head installed. can't get any commitment for help from Ford even though the replacement head is "re-designed" to prevent it from happening again. That is a design flaw for sure.

Does it take the treads out every time you blow a plug?Wondering if it might be a valve issue of some sort maybe the exhaust valve isnt opening at the right time or maybe not enough creating big time pressure causing the plug to blow as the weakest link? was just wondering. at any rate ford should no that their is a problem and stand behind the motor better then what it sounds to like they are doing. jsut my thoughts take care cya.......

Thanks for your response. It does not appear to have taken the threads with it the first time as it has been 9 mos and 12,000 miles with the replacement plug. Now, however, the threads are gone and the head must be replaced. I definitely think Ford is aware of this being a problem as the replacement head has been re-designed with more threads. Nearly all the responses I have received from those with this problem, has been the 4th hole on the right side around 50k miles and up.

Ford has denied any warranty coverage for the k$4,000 dollar sparkplug replacement. The ford mechanic who did the head replacement told me that the replacement head has been re-disigned with "more" threads in the aluminum head. The ford v-8's with alum. heads are having the same problem more often. I have filed a complaint with consumer protection in Wash. D.C. and a couple of local media outlets.

Sorry lhmcjr -- the way Ford is treating you is just plain wrong. They know a problem exists with their heads, but they don't want to pay for fixing it. Not cool.
All I can suggest is to continue your letter writing campaign, including the State Attorney General's office, and make sure you CC Ford on EVERY letter you send. Companies have been know to back down when they see "the little guy" isn't willing to bend over and take it up the ....
