My truck does the same thing. I replaced the IPR o-rings last winter.

Edit: Does your truck blow a huge blue cloud of smoke when it does the long crank thingy? Mine sure does.

Sometimes it does, sometimes not. Sometimes its white smoke, thats usually if it doesn't crank for very long maybe 2 or so seconds. If it cranks for 4 or 5 seconds, then ya, usually its accompanied by blue smoke for a few seconds. Your saying even after replacing IPR o-rings, it still does that?

At least on my truck it still does that. I think the blue smoke is from oil leaking around the Injector O-rings into the either the fuel, or straight into the combustion chamber. Either way, I changed the IPR o-rings to try and correct a lopey idle and vibration when the truck is warm. It did not fix that problem. I've had the pcm reflashed too. Also I have the new Black CPS. That made it run alot better, but it still isn't right. I also replaced the Glowplugs last summer, along with the UVCH's, VC gaskets, and put new pigtails on the two 5-wire plugs on the passenger side. They were all melted. The truck started awesome last winter, but I can tell its already starting harder this year.
The blue smoke on cold start-up started to happen early last spring and has steadily worsened. The only thing I know to try anymore is new injector o-ring and possibly and injector rebuild.

sorry for the terrible glare, the sun was coming right over my shoulder through the drivers side window, Anways, you get the picture. And this one isn't that bad, but its definitely done longer cranks than that.

Maybe I couldn't hear it good? Sounds like your batteries are about dead or the starters dragging, sounded like it was turning over real slow..

+1 on that.
That was the first thing that came to my mind. It sounds like its only turning over about half the speed its supposed to.

Once it started it sounded about the way mine does.

It reads 12.6 volts on the batteries. Haven't checked much into the starter other than having oriellys test it on the truck and they said it was good.

Is the GPR still engaged, when your getting that 11.6 reading while running? That's low, for having the truck running.

The 9.6 while cranking would lead me to believe there is a bad battery or two?

That was for the first couple seconds, then i shut it off, Usually takes about 10 seconds for the gauge in the cab to jump up. I didn't measure the voltage long enough but i know it comes up from that when running.

The low voltage when cranking does also concern me. Is there a way to do a load test myself without having to go down to the auto parts store? I dont have any other transportation and its tough to ride a bike with a battery in one hand.

In my experience they can't detect a bad starter from a PSD until its totally trash, like my old one.

When I took it off pieces of metal were falling out of the drain hole.
