Looking for another new Ex, whats the Diff: 03,04,05

I know there are some changes throughout the model years trim and such. More concerned about positive changes. Ive owned an 05 PSD for 4 years, sold it (yes big mistake I know!!) I have a 2000 still but a V10 .

Im only looking for a PSD 6.0L grill and headlight wise I dont care I can change later on. But whats the reason why a 2003/4 is half the price of an 05? I know they changed the suspension a little on the 05. Will this make my Add a Leaf Kit from Sky Jacker and RS9000 shocks useless on the 05 (Still new and in the box)

Do the 03 and 04 have the same tranny as the 05 with the five speed tow haul modes?

Basically what makes the 05 worth more then another truck with less mileage but a year or two older....

Thanks.

PS other than AutoTrader whats a good place to find a used 03-05 PSD6.0L Limited?? Im looking to spend max $20K/ish... LOL.

I think that the 03 and 04 6.0L PSD engine has major problems due to the dirty diesel fuel used back then that caused a lot of the major repairs needed. The 05 year fixed problems from the past, plus the US now uses the low sulfur diesel fuel.

The 03 to 04 were more likely to have been exposed to the dirty fuel, thus having more problems. Someone here can chime in and correct me if I'm mistaken.

the main thing for you would be the 6.0, get an '05 if money permits, the '05 and up 6.0 are better motors than the '03 & '04.........
no suspension difference to my knowledge.
'05 front end looks better IMO...

We have the 04 and it has been in the shop 4 times this year. We have put a ton of money into it. (makes it almost useless to try and sell it to recoup). We believe that we have fixed most everything that could go wrong with it now. Just like any used vehicle, you can get a good one or you can get a bad one, It's a gamble that you either take, or don't....

What would be wrong with an 2003 7.3L Limited 2wd? I just happen to have one that we are thinking of selling, my wife wants a smaller suv (edge).

The only change they made to the 05 Suspension was spings in the front were changed and they added coils to the front. I dont have my 05 now to look and see but thats all I was told. Been told that by Sky Jacker and Ford though.

I would be interested but since I live in Canada and will spend a ton of time in snow each year a 4x4 for me is a must. Some parts Im in has regularly 2-3' of snow on the ground.

I can spend more I am just cheap and dont want too LOL. When I sold my 05 in 2007 I only got $25k for it I had 225,000KM on it and that bumper and tires in the sig were included. So Im not only kicking myself for selling it but pissed off that they are now more money than I sold mine for. I bought mine new and paid over $70k for it and now Im trying to find a nice clean stock one to start over from.

It would be nice if Ford would crawl this site once in a while and see people still need and want these big beasts and start to build us an nice clean burning 2011 Excursion heck they claim their new motor and tranny makes 20% better fuel economy so we should be getting 25/28mpg so I dont see why they wont. Just a common thought Im sure everyone is sure feeling LOL.

My 2000 and my 05 both have the same front suspention, however, the rear springs are a little differant between the two. The rubber bumper on the anti wrap spring on the 05 hits right under the front mounting bolt on the springs, the 2000 bumper hits maybe two inches back behind the mounting bolt. The 2000 has all new springs front and rear and is it ever differant, better by 200%! imo!
