I didn't know they were making the 3208 all the way to 2006. I heard it was a throw away engine. My boss has got one in his 79 C8000. It smokes like the devil going up any grade. You can tweak the pump/governor to get a little more power out of it. We were down in California fighting fires in 2008 and the engine overheated. The manual states what the max temp is, and boy don't go over it. It burnt what was left of a tired Allison transmission and took out one head gasket to boot. The belt idler pulley went and that got us kicked off the fire finally.

The injectors are pencil type and a special puller is needed to get them out. One other thing was when we were getting it ready for the season, some one used regular heater type hose on the oil cooler inlet and outlet. I found them both pinched and replaced them. These engine needs a huge cooling system to keep them cool. I hear good things about the turbo versions just not the aspirated.

I thought about finding the parts to switch it but that would cost a lot, and the engine probably wouldn't take the boost pressure.

You guys are going to hate me........

But I am sooooo good!

I had a customer call me today and he's tired of fixing his 75 HighBoy.....

Two years ago he installed a 427 Medium Riser that he bought from a shop in Portland into his 75 F-250 4X4. The engine was build by S&S Racing and is a 427 Medium Riser Police Intercepter. He owns a bird hunting preserve and lets his customers use this truck for bird hunting. He told me he is tired of replacing U-joints and drivelines so wanted to know what he should do. Long story short.....I traded a good running 360 and installation for the 427!!!

I would vote for a '65 Galaxy 2-door... or a little 60's Falcon or Fairlane would be cool too.

I like the Galaxy, but it's a little to large, and the Falcon is just to small.
I bought a 66 Fairlane GTA with a 390 and top loader 4 speed in 1972 when I got out of the army. I loaned it to a friend and he rolled it.....Sure wish I had it back again. I'll keep looking for a Fairlane........

I'm trying to decide what I want to do once i get home... A friend of mine said they will give me a '51 Ford Sedan (suicide doors) whenever I want it. It's been sitting for a long time but I think it would be cool to fix it up. Body is straight except for a dent in the front fender, and they said it ran when it was parked.

Not sure if I want to keep the flathead or put something more modern in it.

The flathead would be nice for awhile, but it wouldn't be long and you would like to hea those rear wheels scream!
