Is 750 CFM correct?

Time for buying the carb for my 460 just about back from the shop. Bored .030, 10:1 CR using KB dished pistons, Comp Cams High Energy hydraulic cam, straight up timing, Edelbrock Performer manifold, DoVE C heads, not ported but new valve job, L&L tube headers, rebuilt C6 with 400 RPM over stock converter, 3.5:1 rear in a 1967 F100 used for street driving. Is Edelbrock 750 the best carb for what I'm doing? I would like gobs of torque at low RPMs. I'm open to any sugThanks for your input.gestions of alternative accesories, like intake, etc. also.

Your CFM requirements are dependant on what kind of HP you are running. If it is 450-500hp a 750 4 barrel will do, anything over and you are going to have to go next size up. Personally I would run a Holley Street Avenger series carb. They have 3 flavors to chose from 670, 770, and 870. And the holley website has the specs for what you want to run. Also call the cam manufacturer to get there input.

There are several CFM formulas to choose from. Holly has one on their website I consider a little conservative, calls for 810cfm on a 466 @6000rpm, and others say up to 894cfm. These engines are basically air pumps and all cfm formulas use cubic inches times rpm times a factor, times efficiency of 85-110%. I believe Holly's has a built-in 85% efficiency factor.

I run an Avenger 870 on a built 454 and the increase in seat-of-the-pants power over a 750cfm is substantial . I had originally planned to use the 870 on my 466 and will buy another 870 for that engine once break-in is completed.

Is 750 CFM correct?

Dyerstown, I run an Avenger 770 daily to and from work (110 miles) and the thing kicks butt!! The difference between the older (650?) Holley and this carb are like night and day. Harrison just loves to eat up hills and spit them out while everything else is starting to sputter and wheeze...
