Sounds good. Not much cabin drone until 70mph/1800rpm.

Hybrid Single in to Dual Exhaust System

I have been trying since the end of June to buy the Dynomax 39506 kit for my 2014 F-250 crew cab. This is their 4" cat-back resonator eliminating single exhaust system made of 409 SS. Dynomax finally told me there is no forseeable "build date" for that kit anymore. I decided to put my own kit together by combing the "resonator eliminator" Dynomax front Y-pipe, 24" extension pipe, and the Flowmaster 817701 single in-dual out 3" exhaust system.

All the pieces finally arrived this week from Dynomax and Flowmaster and I will be sorting thru them to pre-lay it out on the floor. The front Dynomax Y pipe is a direct bolt on to the dual outlets from the cats to eliminate the large front and smaller secondary resonators in line before the 55 gallon drum size muffler. The inlet of the 50 series HD Flowmaster muffler is 3" and so are the two outlets for the 3" mandrel bent tailpipes.

I am going to cut off the 3" inlet extension on the muffler inlet and mig weld on a 4" OD 409 SS adapter once I open up the inlet flange for free flow. The 50 Series HD muffler is all 4" diameter passages thru the whole muffler back to rear flange with the dual 3" outlet extensions.

I will post my progress along with pictures thru out the install and fab process.

A complete system from a reputable manufacturer looks, sounds and performs much better than a system pieced together at bubbas discount muffler. I have did it both ways so I am speaking from a little experience. If you just want to make noise go with bubbas but if you want quality sound and performance go with a engineered system.
Couldn't agree with you more. I have done both and one thing I have learned is that if you go the "piece it together" route you need to find a reputable shop with someone who knows what the hell they are doing. They guy who has done my work builds racecars and hotrods so I do trust his judgement. We also reviewed ideal location and what needs to be done to make sure we optimize the muffler design. I also retained the factory geometry on the tubing as mine is SI/SO.

I still haven't had the resonator removed, been busy with work and shopping for another big boy toy. I'll try to get some video posted after I get the resonator out.

I got it from cravenspeed online. I never use FM radio so I have no clue how it works. I have had them on all my late model F-Series trucks, def much better looking than stock.

Finally got everything installed two weekends ago. Used a two post lift so wasn't too bad getting old exhaust out and new components in.

Has a nice Flowmaster rumble now especially with both front resonators removed with the DynoMax Y pipe and 4" extension. We cut the 3" inlet off the Flowmaster 50 Series HD muffler, opened up the front flange to accomodate a 4" SS inlet pipe, and MIG welded it in place. Used a 8" long x 4" ID SS flex pipe to attach the Dynomax pieces to the Flowmaster muffler with new 4" inlet.

Fuel mileage is the same to slightly better than stock over the last 4 tanks of 89 octane fuel averaging 14.9-15.2 MPG combined City and Highway driving.

Has anyone made a video yet of the rear resonator and muffler gone with just pipe in their place? Could you post a link or video if possible?
Thanks

It's a late reply but this is just so that people dont listen to this post and think Dynomax does not make this exhaust anymore, they do and if you just Google Dynomax 39506 you will find that countless vendors have this exhaust in stock right now, in fact i ordered mine first part of October 2015 and you can still get them as of right now, no need to build a Frankenstein setup.

Sure the 39506 Dynomax system is in stock now but it was out of stock all last summer until the first of November. As easy as it is to just install a standard aftermarket exhaust, I decided to make a better system than what was offered by any single manufacturer. I like the sound of the Flowmaster 50 series HD but did not like the fact that their dual exhaust kit still used the stock Y-Pipe and kept the front resonators.

I might have access to more shop equipment than most but what I built was exactly what I wanted vs what was available as "bolt on" only....plus it sounds better than any other 6.2l exhaust I have heard to date.

Cheers
