1986 f-150 overheating / backfiring
#16
Two adjacent cylinders being low is a good sign the head gasket has a leak between the two.
No one can really say if the other numbers are low or not. It depends on the conditions when you did the test(cranking speed, carb wide open or closed, temperature of the engine, temp outside, all the spark plugs out, etc.)

Thanks for the info....All plugs were out throttle held down....Engine relatively cold-started and drove from the street to the garage...plugs were warm to the touch but not hot...First thing this morning so probably about 55 degrees or so...I had a 300 many years ago and it seems to me when I ran a compression check, each cylinder was about 115 - 120...Anyways, thanks again..Any thoughts on the vapor from around the carburetor? Also, is there any way to check the ICM I'm ssuspecting the stalling and not always firing to be the ICM....It's the one mounted on the distributor..not sure which series that is.
