Washed the X and both duallies yesterday and realized the X is in BAD shape of needing wax! Nothing else really, except just ordered the '08 style mirrors from Tony. Been wanting those for a long time now!

It's also much less work to use a buffer to apply and remove wax.

It has to be a good clean towel. I clay bar, wet sand, buff, and do all that stuff to all colors of vehicles and don't get the annoying scratches you see in the sunlight.

I do know certain prints on some towels are rough. I normally use just plain white towels.

I used white hand towels for years. I still like them better than microfiber for wax removal. But, a good buffer is better. The cheapo buffers linked in this thread aren't that much better to me. I spent years doing all of it by hand while I owned one of those. Once I used a good buffer, I've never looked back.

Living the good life John! Great pics of a happy kid! Love to visit Custer, we were there 2 years ago, always a great time.

My happy child helped me wash the Ex today.

Well, I went out and bought some wax and microfiber towels. the Ex has now been waxed completely by hand...

Oh, and I did a test fit of the flags we are going to fly from the Ex during the local 4th of July parade.

David, GREAT job with the waxing..she looks BEAUTIFUL! as always! i knew you could do it!

John, looks like you guys had a great time, I always enjoyed camping in the back of my Ex.

So you guys shamed me into at least washing my beast's. just a quick wash job but made them look much better. I really need to take and detail both of them very well!! buffing and waxing both to bring back the deep shine. but otherwise they dont look bad for being a 1998 and 2002.

Slightly off topic, but this is why i love our highways. There was a large wreck and the highway was blocked. so like i would do many people turned around in the ditch. One reason i hate driving on the interstate in the lower 48 is they have barriers between the directions of traffic...sucks when something like this happens.

Great looking rigs Russ!

Thanks for the memories with the news clip. I hated when that was northbound towards Eagle River, it always meant that I would be getting home late for dinner. Nothing like having ONE road to and from somewhere. Something that the folks in the lower 48 just don't understand.

Yeah, people just dont get it. One way in One way out.

You should have seen it Sunday!!! 2-3 hours to get from Eagle River to the Muldoon exit!!!!! DOT had it down to 1 south bound lane! everyone coming back from up north was screwed. I had been out in Wasilla on Saturday but they still had all 3 lanes open then...i did 73-75 the whole way.

Just spend some time down here in the lower 48 and you'll see why those barriers are needed. We just completed a 500 mile (each way) trip to Nashville TN and back. It was amazing to see how many of those barriers were damaged badly from being hit. What amazes me even more is that people still get through them or cross where there are none and into oncoming traffic and 70mph+ and we all know what the results are there. Not long ago we had a lady here in NC post to facebook from her mobile phone just seconds before crossing the highway median and hitting a large truck head on. Killed her and hurt the driver of the truck. I don't like the barriers myself but if they save my family from some brain dead cell phone zombie then I guess they are a good thing.

That's hardly something exclusive to Alaska. The overwhelming majority of interstates in the lower 48 have no barrier in the median. Many times you see that in urban areas where there isn't much room for a proper median.
