Mine goes off with the hitch attached, it really goes crazy with a trailer. In 05 I have to hit the button every time I shift into R
Thought so. There has to be a way to "sense" when the trailer umbilical is connected. Say the pin that goes out to charge the trailer battery (40a I think)...if there is say continuity from that out to the return ground, or I have heard there is some way to send the reverse signal through the umbilical...there should be a way to use that as a trigger maybe via a relay that you could use to "automatically" disable the reverse beeper.
Anyone out there know the specifics of the trailer pin outs? Need to dig up my Chilton...
Greased the slip yoke - solved the 'thump at start and stop' issue!
Drives smooth as silk now - not bad for 30 minutes of work and some waterproof grease I had laying around! MANY props those that went before us to figure this stuff out!!!
Parked it under an overhang hopefully protecting it from the predicted hail and tornadoes on the way.
The last time we had a significant hail, my brand new '97 F-150 was sitting in the driveway next to the '88 F-150. We watched in wonder as pea to dime sized hail came down for nearly 10 minutes.
When the storm passed, I checked the two trucks for damage. The '88 was unscratched. It had raised its fist toward the skies and shouted, "is that all you got?" The '97 was marked all across the hood. With the first pelt it curled into a ball and whimpered, "please! don't hit me no more...."
Installed the trailering lights from my Expedition. I had the Expy wired to come on with reverse or manually via a switch or not at all. The stone guard on the trailer was polished so the reflection was wicked when trying to connect at night. Decided I'd angle these down to a) get more bumper clearance and b) hopefully cut down the reflection but still give me enough reflected light off the ground to hook everything up easy. I used existing frame holes (the bottom one forward). Tomorrow I'll add a switch and see how they look pointing down like you see on FD apparatus:
Added the rear white srobes tied in to the same power lead and switch as the tail light strobes.
Bright enough I may just get two more, set them to steady and use them as trailering lights - or just go cheap and get a momentary switch so I can cycle through the patters to steady and remove the two trailering lights I just installed today...
Mine did what it was intended to,,, It hauled a bunch of kids for a yr end field trip to a hiking trail along the water. Then it got to show the kids how it stomps thru a water puddle after it sat and watched the kids stomp thru a few. Lol
