What did you do to the X today?

There was definitely a good pause, then a good laugh after, even I had to laugh at myself, LMBO!
Well, we just wrapped up another case here in the Pacific Northwest. This is the second case in two days where there has been a death and next of kin had to be notified. While one of these cases involved a small plane crashing into the water, please everyone, please wear your life jacket when you are out enjoying the liquid blue. The guy yesterday was not wearing his, and he did not make it after the boat he was on was capsized by rough seas.
It really has been a downer of a 48-hours...

What, search and rescue? That is a backbone of the USCG As for the next of kin notifications, that can fall on us or local LE, it all depends upon the case.

I have been asked and have thought about going on the emergency response call list with our hovercraft for our county/city. I would love to do it but not sure I could handle pulling bodies out of the river (at least one a year it seems). Plus I am not exactly sure how it works if I am out of town when they would need me. I believe I was told I would have to be on call any time and let them know any time I leave town which is quite often. If I had a job where I was in town all the time I would probably sign up. I like to help.
Thanks for being out there saving idiots David! It never ceases to amaze me what some people do. Like that guy that tried to go somewhere in that blow up ball on the ocean, then failed and had to be rescued. That is just dumb! That guy should have been charged for that rescue or not rescued at all. :O
