Really? And how many truck have you actually built yourself again? Not bought but built? I am saying since he mainly highway there really is no need for the lower gears. Go back and read a fairly recent post from 9.ford.5 and you'll see where he even said with the amount of highway miles he does, he wished he would have done 4.11's. So go back to the gutter you crawled out of you worthless drunk!

sorry to cause a battle
My motor makes power mid range not down low (puny 5.0) and the AOD's are power robbers. lets meet in the middle anyone running say 33" w/ 4.30 if so what kind of rpm
I'm getting antsy to start ordering.
Still can't find diff gears anywhere ford, motorsport, jegs, summit etc. ANY IDEAS before I go to the salv yard?

with 36's and 4.56's and an overdrive in the 0.75 range your looking at a ****hair over 2200rpm's at 70mph. i'd say that would be about perfect for a cruise speed rpm. 4.56's will give you better acceleration for in town stop and go driving, and will feel better for passing on the highway. and i would never listen to 9.ford.5 for chit, ever!!!! he's running a 5spd. which should be turning a few hundred rpm less in the first place. if anything, he is just not used to actually being in his trucks powerband in a higher gear, and he said himself he never used to use 5th gear. neither did i in my f350 except when i put it on 31's for winter, and it was a world of difference. karl can think and say whatever he want's, but i would seriously ask dave for some first hand experience as well before buying anything.

I ran down the hwy on my way home yesterday, and i was runnin around 80 mph and only turning about 2700 rpms with it.. The way mine is geared its only 11% lower than stock, not bad at all with the added wt of the bigger tires.. Its all about math.. we all know a 302 need all the help it can get, why make it a dog on the hwy just because you have low range for off road... I still use my low range off road with the DD quite offten.. For a 35-36 inch tire 4.88s is where its at to keep close to stock gearing.. Hell I've happely ran 5.13s and 35s on the street without a OD tanny for a couple years.
EDIT: I drive 50-60 miles perday hwy and in town with my DD.....

Dan, look again at the chart, Mr. "I'm too much of a drunk to build my own, so I buy my trucks already built". While the 4.56's will give him the closest ratio to stock on 35's, I was giving him better milage for his primarily STREET driven truck. If you look back I even said for a mostly street driven go 4.10 and more offroad go at least 4.56. Unlike you, I've been there done that and not read this bought that!
