Proportioning Valve Installation

I have a 51 F1 with front disk brakes, rear drums and NO proportioning valve. I purchased one from N.P.D. but it came with no instructions.

(NPD Page 31 - Item 2B091-20CA) They said the catalog was a misprint and this is the one for disk/drum.

Does anyone have a drawing showing what goes where?

Thanks

usually its pretty simple... two lines from the master go into the top.

back line goes to the rear.. last two go to the two fronts..

NPD: Item 2B091-20CA. I dunno what NPD is selling you, but according to the parts catalog...

A 2B091 is not a proportioning valve. It's a front disc brake pressure control valve.

Depending on which type it is, one type (C5ZZ2B091B) was used on 1965/66 Mustangs with manual discs.

Another type (C7OZ2B091B) was used on 1967/69 Fairlane/Torino/Mustang/Cougars with power disc brakes.

These were mounted on the rear axle.

Proportioning valves (Ford basic part number 2B257) were introduced in 1967 when FoMoCo went to dual master cylinders.

These could be mounted on the left outer frame rail, inboard of the left front wheel, or below the master cylinder...adjacent to the steering gear box mounted on the top of the frame rail.

Do yours look like the ones in the picture on page 31? and as you mentioned the catalog list the one you have as disc/disc. As Sam mentioned above 2 line on top from M/C large bore or cup to the front ones, 2 lines goes to the front, 1 line for the rear. I just wnet to a pull-a-part and got one from a disc/drum ford truck less than $10.

I used a Wildwood prop valve. It has one line in and one line out with an adjusting **** so you can limit the flow to the rear brakes whether they are drum or disc. You just lock up the brakes and if the rear stops to much, you screw the **** in to limit the rear flow.

Perfect. That exactly answers the question.

Thanks
