How do I get to the fasteners holding the cowl trim moulding on my '64 styleside?

I thought the Shop Manual would help, but it looks like a need a Body & Interior Assembly Manual.

I need to install a replacement piece for the one that's currently missing, and don't want to have to disassemble the nose.

Are these fastener nuts accessible through the door hinge, underdash, underhood? Thanks for helping out a noob.

No Prob.

If you have small enough arms the vents can be left in Place the lower door section is spring loaded, so remove the cable pull and push up the pin it will pop loose on the bottom and worm the top shaft out.

Garbz,

I looked at mine last night and everything is as you described, except I can't get a look at the rear clip (by the door hinge). It looks like it may be behind the hinge pocket?

Does anyone have a picture of this area of the cab with the doors off so I can see what I'm dealing with?

Thanks!

Napa for the replacement clips or any body shop jobber. Most vendors like NPD, LMC and DC also carry the clips

The nuts are up in the upper cowl well above the hinge. It is a close the eyes and feel for it deal. 3/8 head on the stamp nut.

1963/64 F100/250 moulding clips were also used on 1963 Galaxies and can be purchased from dearbornclassics.com.

There are two moulding clips on the cowl moulding, the front clip is different from the rear clip.

Front: C3AZ6229120A .. This clip has a threaded stud and nut.

Rear: C3AZ62290B82A .. There is no threaded stud or nut. The clip is rectangular in shape, attaches to the cowl panel with built in fasteners.

These two clips are illustrated as D (front) and E (rear) in the 1964/72 Ford Truck Parts Catalog / ILLUSTRATIONS-Exterior Moulding Section, Page 7.

On my 64 cowl; as mention by Number Dummy; both clips are non- thread; I used a flat head screwdriver and pry them off from between the body panel and trim. (outside)!
My truck paint was not a concern in removal!

How many C3AZ62290B82A clips would'ja like?

Reproduced by dearbornclassics.com .. cuz they are the same as 1963 Galaxie.

Call 800-252-7427, order a free catalog...then when it arrives, look thru the moulding clip section for the picture of the correct type.

There is more than one type pictured, you'll have to compare the various types with yours. The other problem is, Dearborn does not use Ford part numbers or list the specs.

I looked on the net, GREEN SALES CO. in Cincinnati OH has one NOS original: 800-543-4959.

Great discussion and info here guys - thank you.

Mitch, Could you post a picture of your rusty clips? My truck currently has no trim and no clips. I found a guy in Wyoming that sold me the trim and it's in the mail. But if it shows up without clips, I have no idea what to look for in the Dearborn catalog (which I'll order today).

Thanks again gang!

I'll try' to takke a photo; the only part without a 3/8 nut/ bolt head are the cowl portion's; the rest of the trim is attached with numerous size clips that are held on by 3/8 nuts..
Can't promise I'll beable ot attach a photo to this thread but will try and place a pic in my gallery.
I did call and order a catalog today; I try to use there web site and had better luck just phoning in my request.
