New GEM, everything works, but now have a speed chime?

Got the new GEM installed and it has my interior/cargo lights working properly.

I drove to a friend's house and back yesterday and noticed that now when I exceed 73 mph I start to get a chime... Going that speed in regular traffic is really easy out here if you want to travel in anything other than the slow lane.

I didn't notice any speed related chime before, but I really only drove it one other time on the highway while hauling my Jeep. It's possible I didn't get over 73 but I must have.

Anyway, does anyone else have experience with this? Is it an option that can be turned off?

I would look in the owner's manual and see if it is a option that can be controlled. I believe you can get a owner's manual online at this link if you don't have one.

Thanks for the link Dave. I looked in there and the only chimes they talked about are:

Safety belt warning chime

Supplemental restraint system (SRS) warning chime

Key-in-ignition warning chime

Headlamps on warning chime

Going to have to explore this further. Just glad to have interior lights now.

Doing some searching I've found out that some of the fleet Fords had a speed chime enabled from the factory, and it most likely is a programmable feature. My truck started out as an unfinished chassis (hence it having a flatbed) Maybe because of that, it's considered a "fleet" vehicle. The GEM I had in it before wasn't triggering the interior and dome lights so maybe the speed chime functionality was blown on it too. Anyway, it might just be a matter of getting it reprogrammed. (getting these dome lights working is has really been going up in price.)
