Its still a sad day. The ranger is sitting in the driveway with the motor right next to it and the guts (transmission) removed and at the shop to be repaired.
Sorry Karl. "If you're going to play, you're going to pay". Might as well go right through the tranny, especially if metal particles from the pump were floating around. Don't forget to flush the coolant lines. Good luck with it...
That's the thing, when I pulled the coolant lines, not even a drop came out! The fluid didn't have any metal flakes that I could pick up with a magnet, so that's good. I think it was just the converter was not fully engaged in the pump that caused my whole issue. It's my fault since I didn't check the clearance after swapping from an 1/8" to 1/4" midplate. I feel so dumb because I knew better, but never thought to do it after the engine dyno.
