DieselSite Coolant Filter - Stuff I Learned - pics
#16
Having finished the instalation, I stared up the truck to check for leaks and observe the flow into the degas bottle. Had flow and no leaks but evidently I lost enough coolant in the instalation process to empty the degas bottle. Hmmm.
Should I top of with distilled water, the gold stuff (what's in it) or a 50/50 mix?
I'm kinda new at this PSD stuff.

To the OP, your oil fill cap looks the way it does because your heater control valve is dripping coolant on it. Its a reletively cheap and easy fix, and yes the vaccum line just pushes on the heater control valve.
Nice pictures, I think most members here have this setup or one similar. It was noted in an earlier post of the shorter NAPA coolant filter, I have seen Fleetguard also offers one.
For me I just remove the bracket, takes less than a minute to remove the two bolts. Its a good idea to loosen the filter before removing the filter housing.

You might find pre-mix at the dealer if you ask for it.

Napa has the 50/50 and it is the same price as the concentrate. Do the math! That is for Zerex GO-5. App. 12 bucks a gal.

A coolant filter is the best mod people can buy for their trucks... and what it filters out (or the piece of mind if nothing)... is worth every dollar.
The pictures that are posted on the Dieselsite.com website (in the 6.0L section) are my photos that I sent them several years back (they had no photos before then)... and I will still say it.... a picture is worth a 1,000 words on the value of having a coolant filter on our motors!!!
