1979 F-600 4X4

I'm not possitive as to the motor, but think it is a 370 4 valve. I use the truck daily to feed cattle during the fall & winter here in Montana. It fouls the plugs quite often. It sits in a heated shop and starts easily without choking. I am wondering if the carb is draining gas down the intake while it sits each day and that is causing the plugs to foul. The carb is made by Holly and is an E7PE AAA. This particular carb is not listed at my local Napa store. The truck came from CA but has had most of the smog stuff removed. Any ideas would be welcomed. Thanks.

Are the plugs oil fouled or gas fouled?
If oil fouled could be valve stenm seals or bad oil rings

Welcome to FTE

The carb is not the original, it's from a 1984/87 F250/350 460. The 460 is from the same engine family as the 370 (and 429).

ID tag number: E7PE-AAA = Ford part number: E4PZ9510AA. What you are prolly more concerned with...is the following:

E9PZ9A586G (replaced E5PZ9A586K) .. 4V Holley Carburetor Kit (No Motorcraft part number listed) / Obsolete

KINSEL L/M in Beaumont TX has THREE = 800-816-2894.

PARTS INTERNATIONAL in Farmers Branch TX has THREE = 888-727-0418.

BOB ALLEN FORD in Overland Park KS has THREE = 800-676-0675. This dealer wants megabucks for obsolete parts!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
E5PZ9A586K (Motorcraft CT1443A) =

WELSEY OBSOLETE PARTS in Liberty KY has ONE = 606-787-5293.

No other Ford Dealer or obsolete parts vendor has either kit.

Sounds like you might want to set the float levels in that Holley before you do anything else.

The level might be too high (as in, the valve never fully closes) and the fuel pump is holding enough pressure that it's slowly pushing extra gas into the intake overnight.

Either that, or it's a leaky float needle valve. Either way, checking the float levels by pulling the plug out of the bowl will tell you if it's leaking or just too high.

Are there any numbers of the choke horn of the carb itself where a Holley typically has them?

Holley's doc on setting the float level:

The parts for the carb should be available either aftermarket or through holley.I just bought a kit for a similar carb a while back at advance auo parts
Parts from holley are a bit pricy
Normally meter plate and bowl gaskets, along with power valve, acc pump and needle valve *** will get the job done
