Can you beat 603 miles per tank?

I drive my V-10 like I own it, which I do.
Mileage is what it is, no more no less.
I never considered gas mileage before I bought it, so why should I consider gas mileage after purchase.
I did not expect and do not expect a 8200 truck to get the mileage of a small car.
In all actuallity it is supriseing how many 1/2 ton pick-ups that don't get any better mileage than an Excursion.
The most important thing to me is how many dollars it costs to drive 10,000 miles. Overall expense including yearly mataince.

I can say prior to lift mod i was gettting on long trips from NJ to vermont around 19. All highway and doing around 75mph. Now with 35's, 6 inch lift i am hand calculating on a good drive with both highwway and around town i am getn 13.5. If it is all highway best i have seen recently was 14.5. I am happy with it. My lie o meter will read at fill up over 850 till empty, lol. What a luagh i get when i seee that. I am happy with my set up and what i get. I also have a tuner and exhaust. My tuner is 3 stages and set at the middle one right now. i think it gives me an additional 90 hp right now. Without it she really drags witht he larger tire but i see no need for the perfromance tune either , esp w gas at almnost 3$/ gallon.

A quote from a manager when comparing his salepeople's mileage claims versus the actual mileage driven and fuel used: "People lie a lot."
Even if they aren't lying unless you've recently calibrated the speedometer (every single one I've ever seen was off) and compared multiple tank trips over the same terrain at best their measurements are really just very rough estimates.
My limited experience (I've only had the vehicle three weeks and only have just under 2k miles driven) is the following with a 7.3 completely stock 4x4 over flat terrain, 330 miles each way trips, 80% highway driving:
Towing 3500 lbs @ 70 mph = 14 mpg
80 mph no trailer = 15 mpg
70 mph no trailer = 17.5 mpg
Some of these trips were before the filter and oil changes and at least one of the trips there was heavy headwind. So these numbers are still rough estimates but at least I was using numbers from at least 30 gallon fillups and I've measured the speedometer error (3% high at highway speeds) using a GPS. FWIW these numbers were all within 5% of the "Avg MPG" lie-o-meter which implies that it may be more accurate than some give it credit.
As one poster mentioned tire pressure alone can have a fairly significant effect on mileage. A 5-10% improvement is pretty common. The only other thing that I've found you can do is to lay off the pedal. Above 65 mph the mileage starts dropping fairly significantly.
Personally I was pretty darn impressed with the towing mileage. It is about as good as I get with my gasoline truck that weighs just a little over half as much and from what I remember better than a '99 F250 diesel 4x4 that I owned some years back.

Ok You can call me a lier if you want but on long trips across country San Diego to the east coast I can and have averaged around 19 mpg at 70 mph empty. I used to pull a 40 ft TT and would get around 9-10mpg at 60 mph. I have a 02 ex XLT 2wd V10 all stock.
Damn I-8 from San Diego to the Colorado River is a race haven for towers. I have seen people in lifted trucks going well over 70 down the hill both directions scare the crap out of me when they blow by like it's flat and straight as a yard stick.

PS...I find that the dash meter on my Excusion is usually only off by .1 - .3 MPG...MUCH better than my past Chevys which were always off by 4-5 MPG...
